but that 50% minus 1 lost the election. it is a part of democracy. a 2-party system is better than what is going on in the mulit-party european gov'ts though
No it isn't. There's far too much scope in the American system for renegade Presidents and so on. No vote of no confidence in Congress or whatever. And anyway, a 2 party system means no other party ever gets a look in - At least with the British 3-party system there's scope for more policies and ideologies. And anyway, the Republicans and Democrats are almost exactly the same ideologically. So essentially it's a 2-party but one-wing system.
