Ayatollah Khamenei issued a fatwa forbidding the production, stockpiling and use of nuclear weapons That's what it was supposed to say I forgot about the max letters.

Sounds interesting don't it. It says that he issued it in 2005. In the least it's interesting.

Some reminded us that on August 9, 2005, at the IAEA meeting in Vienna, 60 years after the US atomic bombing of Japan, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei announced that he had issued a fatwa, or religious mandate, forbidding the production, stockpiling and use of nuclear weapons. Importantly, the Supreme Leader controls the Iranian military and the nuclear program of Iran, not the President of the country, Mr. Ahmadinejad.

I wonder what Likud et al. are going to say about this.

My guess is that they will ignore this, and point at Mr. Powerless, Ahmadinejad, because he makes a more useful idiot for their goals.

No one believes that the 'fatwa' has real meaning. Trust but verify, as it is permissable to lie to, and kill, infidels and apostate muslims. To the ayatollah Pres. Obama is an apostate muslim, far worse than an infidel. Under Shariia law, the only acceptable judgement of an apostate is death.

Fatwas have no parallel outside the Muslim world. It's difficult to understand whether they are in any way binding. After all, Fatwas can be rescinded, or reinstated. And they are apparently applicable to national military decisions, and small-scale death threats.

What the hell are you talking about? Kim Jong Il isn't even Muslim; much less a Muslim religious leader. He can't "order a Fatwa" any more than you or me.

Doi, I know. I am making a point. You think because it is called a "fatwa" that it is not a lie?

We should really be more concerned with Israel's nukes, which are definitely in existence.

Why isn't anyone raising this issue?

I am not raising it because Israel is not hell bent on crushing its neighbors. The only conflict they have is with those that have tried to crush Israel.

This is true. Israel's neighbors don't exactly live in fear of being killed by an Israeli nuclear first-strike. They also have a stable government, and the risk of Israeli nukes falling into the hands of extremists is near-zero.
