Thread: more failed Obama foreign policy

I remember the left going on and on about how bad Musharif was in Pakistan. Now you all got two wishes granted. A new leader in Pakistand and one here in the USA. Obama wants to give Pakistan 50% more in foreign aid. How do you lefties feel about that????

Spend spend spend and on what? Welfare and foreign aid.Pretty stupid policy. We are in economic crisis and look what Obama wants to do. Even still Pakistan is having nothing to do with it. Instead they say stop the drone attacks. Now what will Obama the paper tiger do.

Report: Pakistan rejects U.S. plan, wants drones By Bridget Johnson Posted: 04/08/09 11:56 AM [ET] U.S. envoys met with Pakistani leaders on Tuesday to ensure that the $7.5 billion that President Obama plans to send their way over the next five years will be used to achieve common goals in the fight against extremism.

But according to a Pakistani newspaper, regional envoy Richard Holbrooke and Joint Chiefs Chairman Adm. Mike Mullen came up empty-handed and received a "rude shock" when a proposal for joint operations against al Qaeda and Taliban forces in the volatile tribal regions was rejected.....

Actually he has already befun to do something. Cut important weapon systems and start to errode the missile defense system.

.....Dawn newspaper reported that Pakistan also asked the U.S. to turn over the unmanned drone missions over the territory to them, saying that the drone strikes were fueling extremism.

And The Independent published an interview with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday in which he said Pakistan would go after high-value targets on their own if the U.S. would hand over its drone technology and intelligence.

"President Obama once said that he would act if we weren't willing and able," Zardari said. "We certainly are willing and with international support we will become even more able."

President Obama's plan to battle extremism in Afghanistan includes sinking $1.5 billion each year for the next five years into neighboring Pakistan, up from the current aid of $500 million. But the plan is being watched with a skeptical eye by legislators who doubt the ability of Pakistan — which recently brokered a deal with Taliban in the North-West Frontier Province that allows the militants to impose their brutal interpretation of Islamic law on the populace — to use that money as intended.

Sen. Carl Levin (D-Mich.), chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said during a hearing last week that there was "ambivalent evidence" to suggest that Pakistan would rein in extremism to America's satisfaction.

I thought that by the shear power of his personality and orator skills he was going to get the European countries to step up to the plate. That our enemies would suddenly see the light and sit down and negoiate and end to all hostilities, that there would be peace in the world, diseases would be healed the oceans stop rising?

So far failure after failure after failure with the US being totally rebuffed by our enemies and supposed allies.

It just goes to show when your left... You can never be right...
No matter what you do... The rightists will just have to except the whole world is turning socialist.. Starting with the US what doesn,t the government now own and control... Thanks to US capitalism we now have world socialism by default.

Musharef became president in a coup, correct? And then Bush gave him a bunch of money and he delivered very little.

So now there is a democratically elected leader in Pakistan and we are sending aid (hopefully with strings attached), and you aren't happy about it.

The newly elected President of Pakistan is saying He does not want the drone attacks anymore by the USA. He says it is angering the locals. He says he wants Obama to give him the drones and the technology for them. This new guy in Pakistan is not fighting the border problems at all. Musharef did much more than this guy.

Obama want to way increase the aid to Pakistan. Do you like that?

I think he's just saying that. If he really meant it he'd refuse the money. He takes the money and we get to continue with the drone thing, which I happen to think is a good idea. Win-win, no?
