Iran anniversary 'punch' will stun West: Khamenei





Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Monday that Iran is set to deliver a "punch" that will stun world powers during this week's 31st anniversary of the Islamic revolution.

"The Iranian nation, with its unity and God's grace, will punch the arrogance (Western powers) on the 22nd of Bahman (February 11) in a way that will leave them stunned," Khamenei, who is also Iran's commander-in-chief, told a gathering of air force personnel....

Personally I think that it is a threat to try to scare those in the opposition. The opposition party is planning a big protest. Iran's government just got done publically hanging protestors from the last conflict. I think the government is affraid of total anarchy. I think they have good reason to fear it because after the public hanging there are some very, very pissed off people.

I refuse to follow the breitbart link because he's the enemey...but wouldn't that be something if Iran blasts a nuke! Righties will demand an invasion.

Demand an invasion? I would not demand one. Frankly there is no authority to stop Iran from developing a nuclear weapon on their own. There is authority to control commerce regarding movements of sensitive materials to and from Iran however.

No he is far more interested in killing other people. Personally I think they are going to deploy a new missile delivery system with greater range. Already Iran can hit Athens Greece with a missile. They are not far away from being able to hit central Europe. I think the idea is that they want to put the fear in European countries so that when they do develope the bomb, they can threaten retailiation to central Europe, should they do what they talk about every day. Namely to destroy Israel.

Obama is far from looking like a dove. He is keeping troops in Iraq for atleast a couple more years. He is stepping up in Afghanistan and has a near secret war in Pakistan. He's a regular LBJ.

My instincts tell me that this is all Bob Gates's doing. That's why it so much like what Bush was doing, or might have done.

well I should think so. He is Obama's choice for Secretary of Defense. I would think that Gates plays a big part in advising on War planning.
