    Bomb Cuba?

Oil discovery could put Cuba in big league

LONDON (MarketWatch) -- (Corrects to fix reported oil reserves.) Cuba's oil reserves may be substantially larger than originally estimated, according to reports. Cuban energy officials have said that the country may have over 20 billion barrels of recoverable oil in its offshore fields in the Gulf of Mexico. If confirmed, such reserves would put Cuba among the world's top 20 oil-producing nations.
CORRECT: Oil discovery could put Cuba in big league - MarketWatch

The U.S. will either lift sanctions quickly (doubtful) or re-deploy troops.
    What say you?

Humm, That is an interesting question. Provided this is acurate. When fidel dies do you think that the new leadership will recognize that 60 years of communism has not really helped cuba out that much? An call it quits. And enter tha free market with there goods and services and accepy it from others. I think that sounds like a plan.

If Cuba can recover 20 BBO, more power to them. The world could use the gas.

I think I remember Cuba having about 4-5 BBO (about as much as North Dakota). Of course, deep water offshore discoveries might bring that up to 10 to 20 BBO. The trouble is that the water off Cuba gets mighty deep mighty quick. (4000 to 6000 ft.) There are few companies with the technology and resources for that kind of depth, and most of them are American.... and American companies can't drill ther because of the embargo.

This could put Cuba Oil wells within 50 miles of Florida, it would be a mess if they one get out of control. I doubt that the Cuban government would be washing Florida birds with Palmolive soap.

But hey, Cuban wells 50 miles off the US might open Florida waters to US drilling.

I think they've survived pretty damn well despite U.S. influence.
So what they don't have the luxuries that have turned our kids into a bunch of wide screen video game palying zombies that our parents don't pay attention to because of the ass-kissing chase for the almighty dollar.

Cuba trades with many countries, despite the US trying to force other countries into following its stupid economic embargo on Cuba....

I'd suggest you go visit Cuba to see for yrself that communism hasn't done any harm to Cuba, but unlike people that live in truly free countries, yr govt won't allow you to go to Cuba...

    Re: Bomb Cuba?

Let me guess, if they start drilling without privatizing their oil companies first, the US will be screaming that they are threatening to pollute our beaches. If they hire US companies to do it, it will be all good.

And the Cuban mafia in FLA will have a hissy fit, claiming that they should get a share of the profits.

No, not at all. You have no perception of what Cuba is like, you only swallow what you are told.

They are already in the free market with goods and services, just not with us.

We're not taking-stealing Iraqi oil, [even though we could] why would we take Cubas?
