Arrow Russia could place bombers in Latin America, N.Africa

This is not how we in Russia envisioned our relationships with USA after the end of the Cold War. But considering America's warmongering policies we have to respond.
I think a decision to place bombers in Latin America and N.Africa is a logical answer to the NATO expansion towards Russia's borders.

MOSCOW, July 24 (RIA Novosti) - Russian strategic bombers may soon be deployed at airbases in Cuba, Venezuela and Algeria as a response to the U.S. missile shield in Europe and NATO's expansion, Russian daily Izvestia said on Thursday.

Moscow has strongly opposed the possible deployment by the U.S. of 10 interceptor missiles in Poland and an accompanying tracking radar in the Czech Republic as a threat to its national security. Washington says the defenses are needed to deter a possible strike from Iran, or other "rogue" states.
Moscow has also expressed concern over NATO's expansion to Russia's borders and pledged to take "appropriate measures" to counter the U.S. and NATO moves.

Izvestia cited sources in the Russian Defense Ministry as saying that crews of Tu-160 Blackjack and Tu-95MS Bear strategic bombers recently visited Cuba and conducted an inspection of a site and facilities for a possible forward landing airfield that could be used as a refueling stopover for Russian strategic bombers.

Russia resumed strategic bomber patrol flights over the Pacific, Atlantic, and Arctic oceans last August, following an order signed by former president Vladimir Putin.
At present the Russian military is considering the possibility of establishing so-called "jump-up" bases in various regions of the world to provide refueling and maintenance support for the patrolling bombers.
"The flight to the U.S. [from southern Russia where the bombers are based] takes about 10 hours and even with two mid-air refuellings the aircraft can spend only 1.5 hours near the U.S. coast," said Gen. of the Army Pyotr Deinekin, former commander of the Russian Air Force.
The use of forward landing airfields in Latin America would practically erase the time constraints for the Russian bombers and make their presence near the U.S. borders almost permanent, the general said.
If a political decision is made, Cuba will most likely host Russian Il-78 aerial tankers, which will provide nuclear-capable strategic bombers with mid-air refueling, sources in the Defense Ministry told Izvestia.
Both Tu-160 and Tu-95MS bombers have been recently modernized and fitted with new X-555 cruise missiles with a range of over 3,500 km (2,200 miles). Therefore, the bombers do not have to be permanently based near the U.S. borders to hit any target on U.S. territory in case of a potential conflict.

No problem. The new James Bond who is the best since Sean Connery (Daniel Craig) will handle it. That and I hear they are going to send both Rambo and Steven Seagal as well. The latter two of course will wear sports bras. Have you seen them lately? Yeesh.

Russia can kiss my butt. They are aiding and abetting A rouge Iran. They are supplying missile systems and nuclear technology to them. What they are doing is making necessary the implimentaion of a missile system in Eastern Europe. if they do not like it then that is just too bad.

What do you mean by "Russia must not be permitted"? Who is to tell us what to do?

Raul Castro meets Russia's Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin has met Cuban President Raul Castro as part of a three-day visit focusing on building commercial ties.
The talks were conducted in a "cordial and friendly atmosphere" with both sides expressing the hope of bolstering already positive relations, said the statement carried by the Cuban press agency, Prensa Latina.

The meeting with Raul Castro, 77, successor to his ailing 81-year-old brother Fidel who handed over power in February, also included Nikolai Patrushev, secretary of Russia's Security Council and former head of the country's powerful Federal Security Service, the statement said.
The meeting comes after Russia's defense ministry last week denied a newspaper report it was considering basing bomber aircraft in Cuba in retaliation for US missile defense plans in Eastern Europe.
Commercial trade between the countries was estimated at about USD 363m for 2007. The former Soviet Union was once Cuba's main trade partner.
In 2006, Russia reportedly agreed to reschedule Cuban debt worth USD 166m owed to Moscow.

MOSCOW, August 1 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Tu-22M3 Backfire strategic bombers will participate in a series of exercises involving live firing drills in central Russia on August 4-8, an Air Force spokesman said on Friday.
The Tu-22M3 Backfire-C is a supersonic, swing-wing, long-range strategic bomber that Russia uses mainly to patrol the skies over its southern borders, Central Asia and the Black Sea region.
"During the exercises the crews will practice simulated bomber runs at testing grounds in the Novgorod and the Saratov regions," Lt. Col. Vladimir Drik said.
There are at least 141 Tu-22M3 bombers in service with Russian Air Force.
The Tu-22M3 has a flight range of 6,800 km (4,300 miles) and can carry a 24,000 kg (52,910 lb) payload, including nuclear bombs and cruise missiles fitted with nuclear or conventional warheads.

Put your inferior bombers in latin America. Ignore the threats of Iran on the free world too. Just bear in mind that Iran's nuclear weapons (that they are developing) will be able to someday hit Russia as well as other countries in Europe. And believe me, Iran will have no great love of Russia in the end. The muslim extremists in general are no great friends of Russia. You all would be smart to stop supplying Iran with Nuclear technology and ICBM technology. In the end you will only be hurting yourself.

It's funny.... before 9/11 Americans knew absolutely NOTHING about the Muslim world, and you are "experts".

It's just proves once again that the USA is a new and inexperienced country with mentality of a teenager.
