Iraq official: Need dates for U.S. withdrawal

    JOM isn't gonna like this......

BAGHDAD - Iraq will not accept any security agreement with the United States unless it includes dates for the withdrawal of foreign forces, the government's national security adviser said on Tuesday.
The comments by Mowaffaq al-Rubaie underscore the U.S.-backed government's hardening stance toward a deal with Washington that will provide a legal basis for U.S. troops to operate when a U.N. mandate expires at the end of the year.

    You beat me to it.

As soon as I read this I thought of our own sweet JOM who insists they like us, they really really like us and love our occupation and the violence we have brought into their lives.

Iraq: No deal without pullout timetable
    Tue, 08 Jul 2008 19:43:42
Iraq says it will not sign a security treaty with the US unless the deal contains a timetable for US troops' pull-out from the country.

"We will not accept any memorandum of understanding that doesn't have specific dates to withdraw foreign forces from Iraq,'' Iraq's National Security Adviser Mouwaffaq al-Rubaie said on Tuesday.

He made the remarks a day after Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said he is negotiating with Washington to set a timetable for a full withdrawal of American troops from the country.

The Pentagon, however, said any pull-out would depend on conditions on the ground.

The controversial treaty which is being negotiated by the two sides would allow the US forces to stay in Iraq after their mandate under the UN expires at year's end.

"Our stance in the negotiations underway with the American side will be strong," Rubaie was quoted by AFP as saying.

US officials had no immediate comment on the Iraqi official's remarks.

Talks on the treaty are still deadlocked amid strong opposition from Iraqi political and religious leaders who believe the deal would turn Iraq into a US colony.
Way to go Nouri! I'm starting to like this guy!

It is about time that we ended this, and attempts to stay beyond the U.N. mandated deadline should be met with fierce resistance.

What are they waiting for? If they can't stand our presence, then why are they waiting? I wish they would act faster and stop talking.

Doesn't matter; a disobedient Iraq 'official' can easily be disappeared by the neocons. What's another dead Iraqi at this point?
