UN troops 'armed DR Congo rebels'

The UN has covered up claims that its troops in Democratic Republic of Congo gave arms to militias and smuggled gold and ivory, the BBC has learned.

The allegations, based on confidential UN sources, involve Pakistani and Indian troops working as peacekeepers.

The UN investigated some of the claims in 2007, but said it could not substantiate claims of arms dealing.

UN insiders told the BBC's Panorama they had been prevented from pursuing their inquiries for political reasons.

The US doesn't support the UN, it IS the UN, well 1/7th of it. The UN has NO life by itself, no agenda. It's just a MEETING of countries, and 7 of them (including the US) have the real power.
Also, didn't the US helped and armed the talibans a few decades ago?

We need the UN to have its own standing army. Relying on these fly-by night voluntary crowd is highly problematic for retaining discipline.

The level of corruption in the UN is leaking back into US politics, this needs to be corrected.

Well, the last time we didn't want to play on the world stage (ie.. League of Nations), Japan, Italy, and Germany had a "really expensive" party. So here we are playing the role of "The World Police" (But has evolved into: It's all about our global economic interests). Isolationist / Imperialist, how can we make more money?
