contrary to the belief of this guy:
Why China is the REAL master of the universe | the Daily Mail
this article is little more than a hit piece that tries to incite people to violence against China. Fearmongering, I believe is the word.
His points:
1) US economy is weakening.
2) Its getting more powerful in the economy while we're getting less powerful.
3) More raw materials are going there rather than here.
4) The 'rules' are changing.
5) We're going to start seeing 'their' culture rather than they see 'our' culture.
Firstly, I want to curse at the man who wrote this article. He's probably a neo-con lackey, who wants us to start fucking over China so that we can show we are really the boss.
Yes, I'll agree that the US is growing less than it was, and that much of its wealth is based on bubble economics.
But that also means, much of China's wealth is also based on bubble economics. Imagine how many jobs China would lose if the US went into a serious recession. This means, no more seemingly endless spending by US consumers, their primary market, on cheap shit that China produces; people get laid off, and by extension, their growth slackens.
Secondly, 'power' is based in violence and legitimacy. If the Chinese government went to war against the American government, the American government would win. If the Chinese people went to war against the American people, the American people would win. The Chinese government has no legitimacy; it has national legitimacy, but is being perpetually tainted around the world by its authoritarian measures. People don't like stuff like that; ergo, if they were to try anything stupid, like imposing their will on other countries, you'll find that resistance will be 100000% more than anything the european based liberal nations did. In war, violence and legitimacy act as a synergy; decrease one, and the overall war effort falters quadratically, decrease both, and the overall war effort falters exponentially.
Thirdly, ironically, when they start consuming more materials, guess who they act more like? AMERICANS! Yes, more money = more wasteful spending on pointless stuff. So if they end up replacing America, it will be a replacement in name and not in substance.
Fourthly, China needs the US more than the US needs China. Wal-mart could ship its plants to mexico or vietnam, and we'd still have our cheap goods. If they stopped buying our dollars, their vast holdings of US dollars would become worthless; they'd hurt every bit as much as we would.
I attribute yellow journalism like this towards the overall trend of anti-China movements, not insightful reporting.
