    Is Big Brother watching you?

Just came across this on the BBC website, which I thought might be of interest to any Europeans on the board. It's an incomplete summary of the surveillance methods used by a few different governments around the continent. How much are you being spied on?

Edited to add this classic quote from some Greek man:

"If I choose to have an affair with a woman who is not my wife, that is my fundamental human right, and I should be protected from being caught on camera," he said.

I'm in America but I'm sure its similar over here as outlined in that story. I hear a lot of people talking about this sort of stuff and the usual tag line is that it doesn't bother them or they don't have anything to hide. I am like them and can agree that I have nothing to hide but I also think I should be able to hide something if I want to.

But a glance at this whole thing from the outside makes me see it as something resembling an experiment with a lab rat. A determination of not just what people do wrong, but what they do in general. What they do if... and what if this...

In context of Big Brother, I don't like being a lab rat and I don't like you (the next person) being one either.

I could care less what they watch me do or say, they are wasting their time as I have nothing to hide, they aren't going to bother if I'm cheating on my wife if I had one, this is all silly stuff to them and they aren't going to care let along check up on that kind of stuff.
All they care about is if I pay my taxes, robbed a bank or am a murderer or if I'm involved in some terrorist attack stuff like that, but just the thought one might get caught might make one think twice before he/she does something wrong - To a point this is a good thing, but at some other point we do have to put a lid on how far we allow big brother can invade our privacy.

I don't worry too much about it because if the government wants to get me they will manufacture the evidence if they have to since we are dealing with people who have no scruples whatsoever.
