it is a war.....the occupied vs the occupiers, what military has ever given a shit about collateral damage......so the hypocrisy goes both ways, a Palestinian gunman shoots up a school in Jerusalem and he's a "terrorist", a Israeli gunmen(Alan Goodman) shoots up a mosque and he's merely "deranged" and living free(in the USA I believe)....

Hatred by some towards America has indeed intensified. But given our capabilities, so has the level of respect.

One excellent example is North Korea. It could easily over run South Korea. It does not do so in large part because of the US military presence which North Korea respects because of its retaliatory capabilities.

Respect doesn't necessarily mean "like."
