News last week of an amazing turn of events in china . An entreupeneur with close links to the party launched a pyraamid selling scheme that was invested in by thousand of chinese, most of them so convinced of its worthiness that they spent their whole life savings on on it . He was feted by the chinese government and earned a reputation as a great example of a man of vision .

He ran his scheme by advertising large ant colonies as a future in providing medicine for various health and medical procedures. boxes of live ants were distributed to all those who paid , and they were instructed to feed them and in a short time they could return the fatted up ants to the company and recieve up to 30 per cent profit on their original stake.

Soon it became clear that people wer being conned - no one collected their ants and rumors spread of a scam and thousands of people went onto the streets to protest .\Now here it gets interesting - the ant man was arrrested - not for the fraud but for organising demos against the government - the antman blamed the government for the schemes collapse .

All over china all that the subscribers had left was boxes of dead ants .

The chinese worried that this bad publicity would look bad if it continued up until or even during the upcoming olympice threathened the protesters and many were arrested .It is unlikey that the conned will get any compensation . These desperate ant farmers my decide to protest during the games .

They should be safe while the western cameras are in town but i fear for them when the show is over .
