The surge has been amazingly affective. We have been handing over control of provinces in Iraq more and more. The real propaganda is that you do not hear about that. You do not hear about the amazing strides the Iraqi military has made to becomming self sufficent. There is your propaganda. Good news is squashed.
I understand what you are getting at; however, I disagree with your post. Oil does not kill. Following your logic, we should not have discovered gold because of all the fighting and killing over it that occurred and we should never have invented the internet since it is to blame for the terrible things that online predators do. I could go on and on with examples of placing the focus of our blame on non-living, inanimate items. Why are you trying to blame inanimate objects for something PEOPLE do?
When the oil runs out, it is likely some other source of energy will be used to replace it. People will also likely fight over it so who is to say whether the world will be safer.
I thought this is what you were trying to say. I apologize if I came across too harshly. I agree that many have died because of greed over oil. Although, just because people have died because of greed over any valuable item does not give us reason to say “we would have been better off without this item”. Unfortunately, greed is something that has and will always be around. The only thing we can do is hold those people accountable for killing/wounding others over valuable items, whatever they are, while still advancing and improving the quality of our lives.
This idyllic picture you paint of families of happy flag waving independent smiling iraqis is laughable - you should be warm up on jay leno . You are a gang member and your colors are the shades of non-consequence - in essence you dont want nor would you want to be convinced of any other version of events other than that of fellow gang members - loyalty is your ID , comments on civil war in the middle east demand honesty not patronage .
I bet you if you swallow oil it will indeed kill you.
