Thread: 2008

So, I'm sitting in work killing time until I'm allowed to go and impair my cognitive functions in celebration of an arbitrary date, and I'm reading all sorts of predictions for the coming year. I invite you all to add your own - what's going to happen to the world in 2008? Who'll be the next US president? Will Jacob Zuma be convicted of corruption? Will there be elections in Pakistan (hah!)? Will China win more Olympic medals than the US? Will topical story of your choice unfold in an x or a y way?

The chinese may or may not win more medals at the Olympics, but the medals themselves will be found to have lead in them and have to be recalled anyway.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Obama's going to win. They say Romney's from central casting, well just because we haven't yet had a black president doesn't mean Obama doesn't have the Presidential look as well. He looks much more youthful and hip than Romney, kinda like Clinton and Gore back in the day.

He's also a good speaker, charismatic, and seems to bring excitement wherever he goes; additionally he doesn't have the baggage of Hillary.

p.s. I should say I won't be voting for him, I'm just having a little bit of fun making a prediction...

There will be a spring/summer election in Canada. Harper will stay in power with a minority government

China will approach the US and the US won't see Canada crouching down on all fours behind the US. Then China will push the US all of the sudden causing it to fall over crouching Canada on to it's ass. The US will not be as amused as Canada and China.

Hillary will win the election with Joe Biden as the running mate.

George Bush will meet his fate when he discovers oil on his texas ranch by sitting down for lunch on the wellhead when it blew.

FFA will have a spiritual revelation and sell everything to join the Dahli Lahma.

Davocrat will be struck by lightening and become the evil Davopublicatrian. And he'll have a white stripe of hair over the top of his head and a ghoti.

Invayne will open a Denny's franchise.

Think For Myself will be forced to confess that all of his thoughts really come from a Bob Keeshan cult headquartered in Iowa.

Inkslinger will lose a bet and get a double ass-cheek Clinton tatoo, Bill, left, Hillary, right.

Coolio will find God and have to acknowledge her power.

2Lane will see a distinct drop in his business after the election.

Blueneck will get a fantastic job.

Helena will be the first to announce the break-up of Green Day.

Michaelr will discover an asteroid and get to name it Paul.

Freckles will get a job modeling Lands End swimwear.

Conservative will buy a mule when his wife insists they get a hybrid.

Coolio will find God and have to acknowledge her power.

Her power? Explain Dave.

Red Sox will win the world series.

Yankees fans will continue to count their past championships and pretend that somehow means they have large willies.

My financial goals will not be directly related to my post count, but my post count will be an indicator of prosperity.

One of the US auto manufacturers will announce future production of an affordable, battery powered automobile.
