    Too fat to Work?

    Too fat to work

    Richard Ford and Sam Coates

Almost two thousand people who are too fat to work have been paid a total of £4.4 million in benefit, it emerged last night. Other payments went to fifty sufferers of acne and ten incapacitated by leprosy.

Billions of pounds is being paid in benefits to people claiming to be unable to work because they suffer from depression, stress, fatigue and unknown or unspecified diseases.

The full list of ailments of the 2.7 million people claiming £7.4 billion in incapacity benefits, obtained by using Freedom of Information laws, will fuel suspicion that it is being used to keep them off the official jobless total. It will also fuel the debate over whether British workers could have been hired for more of the one million new jobs taken by migrants since 1997.

Frank Field, a former Social Security Minister, said last night that too many people were working the incapacity benefit system to avoid work. “It is a racket, which governments have allowed to exist for far too long. I do not blame people for working the system, it is the job of politicians to stop them doing it.”

That is crazy! But the end of your post makes it sound like you think that Hillary IS going to become president. Is that what you think?

Who do you think is going to win? The MSM wants her...according to the polls most Democrats want her...and all the disaffected moderates and Republicans who vote third party will ensure her win...reality bites.

Hope she isn`t suggesting anything too outrageous like the access to quality healthcare should not be based upon how much $$$ you earn but on how ill you are

    Re: Too fat to Work?

Let's just say someone doesn't know the difference between medicare, worker's compensation and disability benefits covered by private group insurers and felt like mixing them all into one category and suggesting medicare is the latter two which it is not and has never claimed to be.

In Canada where we have medicare, we have fat people but medicare does not entitle them to worker's comp or disability bens and to suggest it does is well fat-headed not fat bodied.

As for fat people, if they are fat because of a thyroid or glandular problem or some organic disease or a genuine psychiatric illness, to lump them in with simply people who are obese because of lifestyle is also a fat-head thing to do.

Disability insurance eligibility has criteria. You no like go complain to the insurer and tell them to be even more narrow in definition.

As for Hilary's thighs Con, liposuction is not covered under disability benefit plans so I would not worry if she pursues a little suck in tuck in time for the elections.
