    The coming plague

The Coming Plague is a book written by a former CDC doctor who said that soon it is inevitable that a plague will hit.

but then there's this about UK foot and mouth outbreak:
"The deliberate release of viral material, possibly in an act of sabotage, may have caused the foot-and-mouth disease outbreak, officials said last night.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) said in a report ordered by the Prime Minister that “release by human movement [of the FMD virus] must be considered a real possibility”.
Inspectors all but discounted theories that the virus escaped by air or water from the laboratory complex close to where the outbreak started, although they are continuing to investigate the possibility of equipment failure or a security breach."
Sabotage is suspected over foot-and-mouth - Times Online

how do you think the plague will arrive?
like 12 monkeys, released by a government plan to control population?
by accident because some crazy scientist spills his coffee?
by Mother Nature who needs some clean air?
by natural population of bacteria and it's overtaking of another species?
    other?

At first I thought this said "plaque". So brush your teeth, I thought. Then I saw "foot in mouth disease" and thought it was about politicians. I read about this a few days ago. It's not that big a deal. I'm still waiting for kiler bees and the bird flu.

there are growing agricultural problems that will cause difficulty in the future. culling birds in Asia causes more starvation in over populated places. the addition of chemicals and changing DNA to feed more will have adverse effects 20 years from now.
at least they found the parasite that is killing honey bees. hopefully that can be remedied.
do you think we will improve and be able to feed the population of the earth and deal with the reprocussions of that such as packaging disposal?
now go brush your teeth. heh.

Not really. I think we need to figure out how to control population growth. It's not sustainable. The statistics are alarming. As we succeed in prolonging lifespans we just create a bigger problem. I have no idea how to fix that one humanely. No one is home to smell my breath today - so I'll wait to brush.

governments won't even address population issues for the most part.
China and the one child policy is being stepped over by the $25,000 fine to have a second child.
it certainly looks grim for the future unless some of the herd is thinned. but what if mutants are left behind?

Theres also major earthquakes, mega volcanoes, tsunamies, and asteroidmeteors and comets, All possible and probable at some point. Its all just one big spin of the wheel, day after day and any way you look at its just a matter of time.

and I don't know how or when the next plague will arrive. But I'm sure its origin will have mankinds mischevious footprints all over it.

but with the stigma of Hitler and human extermination... there is going to be some protest, so how will governments deal with this issue?
    by starting wars?
by letting things slip into chaos by not being proactive?
    by deliberate planting of biotics?

Any manmade solution is bound to be inhumane and discriminatory in one way or another.

Any natural solution is bound to be just inhumane, but at least there won't be a person who is responsible and we can all do our best to help alleviate the suffering.

That being said I don't think we are at the carrying capacity of the planet and if we actually work together for a change the carrying capacity can be raised by leaps and bounds.

The Plague is a specific disease. Did he mean that the plague would cause huge problems for humanity or was he speaking metaphorically about a medical catastrophe of any kind?

I notice something about you. You are real big into the "some terrible prediction will come true" thing. Are you looking for signs of armagedon?
