If Obama sends more troops to Afghanistan, he will certainly not win a second term.

We'll worry about that in a couple of years. Right now there are more pressing matters.

The deployment of troops is a very pressing matter. Ahhh. but you do not have an opinion on that.

I believe that Afghanistan and Vietnam are very similar situations for the USA. If Obama starts sending more troops to Afghanistan he will be perceived just as President Johnson was.

The Taliban was aiding and abetting Al Qieda in the 911 attacks on the USA. They were just as guilty. They got what was comming to them when we captured and killed most of their leaders and removed them from power in Afghanistan. You think the invasion was incorrect and wrong and I do not. That said the original mission is long since over. Time to leave.

Considering nobody has even been found guilty for the 9/11 attacks in a court of law, it seems quite a stretch now to allege that the whole Afghan Taliban was somehow involved.

First of all, I'm not a FOX "news" person and I certainly am not prejudiced against anyone. [/QUOTE]

Why not, you don't have cable TV? I'm sure someone like you lives in fear of Muslims in a cave in Afghanistan would love it. Try it, you'll like it.

I also do not believe that Muslims lack basic reasoning skills. I have friends that are Muslim and they are intelligent, caring and peaceful people.

The Taliban are theologically driven. They are the fringe/radical part of the Muslim faith.

Pro Lifer's who bomb abortion clinics are the fringe/radical part of the Christian faith.

When you think that your reward justifies the means then there are no reasoning skills involved.
Strange, it seems to me that it is the U.S. that lacks reason considering it has a long track record of launching irrational wars and refusing any type of reasonable surrender in favor of total destruction.

Personally, I'd celebrate an announcement that the U.S. was pulling out of Afghanistan. I'm about to go into the military and I would rather not go there, whereas I figure my chances of going are relatively high if we remain. However, I would be concerned for the U.S.' long term security and international interests, which I am convinced would suffer if the U.S. were to leave at a time where the country is not self sufficient to any extent and unstable.

The point of leaving would be rather moot if we just had to go back a few years down the road.

This would happen if AQ or a hostile Taliban were allowed to operate there unmolested.

911 was a declaration of war by a terrorist group aided and abetted by the Taliban. We did not convict the Emperor of Japan before going to war after Pearl Harbor.

What exactly does a court of law have to do with it?

Seeing as we never caught the MF how the hell could he have been found guilty?

Seeing as the 19 hijackers were all tied to AQ and AQ accepted responsibility and you don't have jack shit implicating anyone else I don't see it as a stretch at all.
