    Double Democracy

Half the human population is female yet in no democratic legislation anywhere are half the elected representatives women!
On average men and women think, act / react and communicate differently but the feminine viewpoint is everywhere massively under-represented politically, particularly in totalitarian states and tribal areas.
As one gender can neither properly nor fully represent the other it is proposed that the double democracy system be adopted in all freely elected governments, where each voting area would return one woman and one man to their congress, National Assembly, Parliament etc. across the planet.

But do they even use it in practice? We've got a set of norms today, when elected, these females will simply follow and relate than adopt a more feminist approach. Take Thatcher, Indira Gandhi and even Albright.

    Won't work.

I don't subscribe to the notion that females must be represented by females, or blacks by the same, or men for men. We're all people, with the same desires and concerns for liberty, representatives should be picked based on their ability to defend that, not based on color or gender.

You are right about that Sparta, you think Dems v repubs are bad, imagine men v women, black v white, gay v straight, etc.......we all should be fighting for common principles having nothing to do with gender or sex or sexual orientation.

Yeah...maybe in the 83rd century. Right now humanity is more defined by our differences than our similarities and that's not going to change any century soon.

I don't disgree with you. I think we have a tendency to expect change way too fast. It hasn't even been a century since women were given the vote in the US. Equal representation for genders, races, sexual orientation (all of which I believe will be completely fluid over time) will increase to the point of irrelevancy in successive generations. The fact that there are already amazing increases in representation by leaders with wildly diverse backgrounds all over the world is a testament to the progress being made. We gotta occasionally have a bit of patience.

Agreed. I'm optimistic about mankinds progress.
One (mean) way to look at it is all those old people that grew up with women as house pets don't want to vote for them because they have less respect for them. Soon they will be dead.
Note: that does not go for all old people. Just the old fashion kind that don't like change

Well... you mean take everyone's marbles, step on them, and go home.

I'm just kidding. I'm with you actually. Quotas are not gonna do anything except pervert justice (yeah I said it, pervert justice) and demean everyone involved. If you want more women in office, vote for more women. Or the party that has more women.
