    political lies

There isn't a law in Britain to prosecute politicians for knowingly manipulating the truth. Thus, if a politician publicly states his motivations for doing something in order to gain support whilst privately having completely different motivations he can get away with it without facing any consequences...bizarre.

It's caught on here as well, BushCo has it fixed to where they can't be indicted for war crimes during their reign of terror. To me, that's an admission of the treachery they have caused....

That's exactly right, they make sure they are above the law. I found this website the other day:

    Ministry Of Truth

It has a really interesting documentary on it about how politicians can deceive the public and face no consequences. It appears they are trying to get a law passed through parliament entitled 'The Misrepresentation of the People Act'! I think they are in the process of trying to find a politician to back their bill...it will be a difficult but I hope they succeed because it is the right time for positive change

    Re: political lies

There was a group in Canada who tried to remove their Liberal MP, as his party had campaigned on the direct, clearly stated promise of canceling a hated General Sales Tax imposed y the previous Con government. The Libs then did not eiliminate the tax. The group claimed they had voted Liberal for that campaign promise specifically, and therefore were victims of fraud when it wasn;t followed through.

After years in court they gave up.

I'll try to link if anyone cares. All I can say is I hear you.... I hear you.

    Re: political lies

Oh thank you!I personally think that if the documentary filmakers can get enough public support they might have a chance...plus, in my opinion the climate is exactly right. However, it is going to be very difficult for them to find an MP to back them. I'm certainly going to try to help gather support because I'm completely fed up with our government and think that there needs to be a change in the relationship between elected politician and the electorate. I have posted some comments at the bottom of the 'Beginner's Guide' section of the website (trying to get a little discussion going) so I would be very grateful for any contributions whether you agree with me or not! Otherwise, if you are able to mention the documentary/proposed bill (The Misrepresentation of the People Act) to anybody who would be interested that would be a good way of gathering support

This entire chain assumes a true democracy. Aren't people elected in the countries considered guilty to make decisions on behalf of the people? Should they ask for permission every step of the way? Would that work?

It does make the idea of western democarcy a joke, they are supposed to be representatives but it seems once voted in they can do what they want.

    Re: political lies

I don't disagree many elected officials make decisions that appear against the will of the people (or at least some). I don't disagree that their decisions are often poor. Are they above the law and unchecked? No. If that were the case, the United States wouldn't have a largely Democratic congress. Is the system perfect? No. Full of lies and deceit? What corporation doesn't have 'politics'?

Hey Feela that's right! They are beholden to no-one except their campagn contributors, and the media giants, Who are all made up of filthy rich fukers who don't give a damn about anything except the stock/bottom line. If the media really reported the truth, there would have been millions storming the White House years ago. This holds true for lawmakers on both sides of the isle in my opinion.
