Well Inksters, when one takes into account the War in Afghanistan, Iraq, 9-11, Hurricane Katrina, yes, it costs a lot of money. The reason Leftists are pissed off over the budget deficit is that they didn't get to bust it with a social agenda.

The notion that Democrats have been fiscally responsible is laughable.

On top of all this spending, we also had tax cuts and have already cut the deficit in half without a tax increase.

Yep, Bush is one dumb President. :WINK WINK:

Meanwhile back at the Reality Ranch, the President spends 15 billion per month off budget on his personal wars and the mob of morons cheers. Uh-huh.

While Bush spends ridiculous amounts of pork, I do agree to the spending towards defense. That should not cease. Nor will it most likely. If anything, spending should increase to go towards more armor and protection of our troops.

On the other hand, because this spending is a good chunk of our overall spending and our deficit and we are not going to lessen it, I can see why Bush may be fighting with the new Congress. Their plan for America will do nothing more than increase the deficit. All of their plans will just cause more spending and their only method to counteract that would be to raise taxes. That tax raise might cover only the new spending, but it is doubtful it will even cover all of that.

If anything, a Democrat tax plan may stifle employment and economic growth. We shall see how things turn out. It will be an interesting next two years for sure.

The Deficit is a direct result of a slight recession when Bush took office and 9-11. Two wars did not help it. Yet with all this, tax revenues are at record highs and the deficit is slowly being reduced......in half now.

What was that saying? Stay the course?

Wow, such a snappy meaningless retort. Try dealing with reality instead of deflecting it for 5 minutes.

He did. Like almost all Republicans, or at least myself and the Republicans I know, we feel the need to cut spending on many things:

    privatize the post office
    privatize NPR
    privatize AmTrak
    co-op NASA with other nations
cut funding for roads and highways
utilize prison labor to the entire prison population
turn off all streetlights nationwide after 10 PM

we need to cut spending, not raise taxes

    What the hell?

My aunt works the nightshift at her hospital. I'm sure she appreciates those lights.
