We have corporate mercenaries, corporate intelligence operations, so why not corporate police? Congressional oversight is overrated anyways.

Corporate shmorporate. Private communities, universities, lots of entities besides corporations are embracing private security.
I have no problem with this. Congressional oversight? We're talking about localized security. If they break the law, these people will face the consequences. Until then, they are just security guards doing their jobs.
I wish we'd take it a step further. I would love to see local police be hired by contract to the private sector, answerable to the cities/counties for quality and actions. I think this would increase our overall security and improve quality.
And probably reduce costs and corruption.
