You can buy home owner's insurance after your house catches on fire, though it won't cover that fire or prior ones. You can also continue not having home owners insurance and fix everything yourself.

You can buy car insurance after you've been in a car accident, though it won't cover any accidents prior. You can also continue not having car insurance and pay for accidents/damages yourself.

    Therefore

You can buy health insurance after you've gotten sick, though it won't cover your current sickness or any prior. You can also continue not having health insurance and pay doctor's/hospital fees yourself.

Its called Freedom of choice. Its also called SELF-RESPONSIBILITY, something WAY TOO MANY people in this country have abandoned.

Nah, see, that's the scam. You can not actually do the bolded part, at least not in most States. You MUST show proof of insurance before they'll let you register your car. Some strange coalition between little old ladies and the insurance lobby - but that's the way the law is written, in most states. Our gubmint has made insurance mandatory! And, it's been challenged lots of ways in court, and they've come up with a few work-arounds like posting huge private bonds or something, but the whole deal is, our gubmint COERCES us to buy insurance! It's THE most basic form of statism, it's the very PROTOTYPE in this country.

You also forgot Auto insurance, (that I disagree with, by the way). Why can they force us to buy Auto insurance, but it's wrong to force us to buy health insurance? I suppose Obama has something to do with this, too.[/quote]

You can decide to not own a car. You apparently, can't control how you take care of your own body. Wonder what the penalty will be for suicide?

they stand you in a corner and use you as a security guard untill you stink up the place...

ther is no freaking wany that this government is going to force me to buy insurance... I will go to jail first. and enjoy a one year vacation .. and get three hots and a cot and FREE healthcare ...

its the principle of the thing... government is getting to damn far out of line if they think they can do this... they better be building a lot more prisons
Because whenever unlimited power and self righteous compassion are united, you end up with a bunch of self righteous pricks spending other people's money and patting themselves on the back for being compassionate.

Yep, I'm with ya Wing. NO GOVERNMENT OF MINE IS GOING TO FORCE ME TO BUY THEIR STINKIN' HEALTHCARE "INSURANCE", which we already know from the git-go is horribly corrupt and a black hole for executive salaries.

What they're trying to do here, is FORCE ME TO PAY FOR OTHER PEOPLES' INSURANCE, and I'm sorry pal, but I got a hard enough time payin' for my own.

I want to know, by WHAT CONSTITUTIONAL AUTHORITY do they get in my face and FORCE me to buy healthcare insurance?

THERE IS NONE! There is no such authority. And I mean, the first person who raises that "General Welfare" stupidity is gonna get an earful. There is ==> NO <== Constitutional authority that empowers my government to COERCE me to buy private health insurance.

If they got a problem with costs, that is NOT MY PROBLEM! That's ==> THEIR <== problem, and I fail to see why "I" should be required to bail them out from their f*ck-ups YET AGAIN! I've done that TWICE already, WITHIN A SINGLE YEAR, and I really don't feel like doing it again.

I say: STARVE THE F*CKERS. That's what they need, and that's the way to bring this beast under control. Starve 'em of tax dollars, till they literally have to BEG for salvation. That's the way to begin fixing this problem.

Damn, of all the people posting here, I figured at least YOU would be smart enough to understand why it's right for the state to require proof of insurance prior to registering mooter vehicles.

And I definitely figured you'd be smart enough to understand the difference between health insurance and auto insurance.

Do ponder that for a bit.
