The Republicans have sunk to a new low in partisan politics. Now they're using children as a fund raising tool without the permission of the children's parents and trying to portray the children as having been brainwashed. Apparently being brainwashed includes demonstrating civic pride in your country and the President.

The Republican National Committee has sent a fundraising email to supporters tied to what it calls the "fanaticism" displayed in a video of New Jersey elementary-school students singing a song praising President Obama. (Watch it at left.)

RNC Chair Michael Steele writes that the video shows "the indoctrination of our nation's greatest treasure -- our children."

"Friend, this is the type of propaganda you would see in Stalin's Russia or Kim Jong Il's North Korea," Steele writes. "I never thought the day would come when I'd see it here in America."

The video, which shows students learning songs praising Mr. Obama for his "great accomplishments" and efforts to "make this country's economy No. 1 again," was posted on the conservative Drudge Report and reported by Fox News, prompting anger from conservatives.

"This is the type of fanaticism Republicans are up against as we fight to stop the Obama Democrats' radical leftist transformation of America," Steele writes in the fundraising email. "The only way our Party can defeat their liberal ambitions is by electing more Republicans in the upcoming 2009 state elections and the critical 2010 mid-term elections."

School administrators say students were taught the songs in the video, entitled "School Kids Taught To Praise Obama," in conjunction with February's Black History Month. The recording and release of the video, administrators said, had not been authorized.

A spokeswoman for the New Jersey Department of Education released a statement saying that "the commissioner has directed the superintendent to conduct a thorough review of what happened."

The goal, she said, was "to ensure that students can celebrate the achievements of African Americans during Black History Month without inappropriate partisan politics in the classroom, as well as ensuring the privacy of children is not violated," as the Daily Journal reports.

The spokeswoman added that the teacher behind the video retired at the end of last year.

Steele concludes in his fundraising email that "the indoctrinating of the most impressionable members of our society is unbelievable unless you see it with your own eyes."

"Please watch the video of young school children literally singing the praises of Barack Obama that their teachers have taught them," he writes. "Share it with your friends, family, neighbors or anyone you think may be concerned by this. Then make a donation of $10, $25, $50 or $100 to support the RNC's efforts to fight this leftist propaganda and elect more Republicans this year and next."

I personally think I was being brainwashed when I was forced to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Don't see how this is any different

Your right, now and then the Liberals make that exact argument about the Pledge of Allegiance,

that it is indoctrination and may not be universally appreciated by people from other countries or

    those with particular political views.

But they love six year old chanting Obama's name, that's awesome.

Exactly. People in my high school that refused to say the 'Under God' part of it were usually ridiculed. It was only added in the 50's by, lets face it, a very socially conservative administration.
"While I am a great believer in the free competitive enterprise system and all that it entails, I am an even stronger believer in the right of our people to live in a clean and pollution-free environment. To this end, it is my belief that when pollution is found, it should be halted at the source, even if this requires stringent government action against important segments of our national economy."

The songs were a a demostration of respect for the President, his accomplishments, pride that he is the first black President and pride in this country.

Pure civics misrepresented and misused as a fundraising tool by the GOP.

Some think that the right to use children as a fundraising, campaign, or propaganda tool is theirs and theirs alone.

Chanting his full name over and over again is worship.

    his accomplishments,

    Like what, being black?

pride that he is the first black President and pride in this country.

So it's a black pride rally, maybe.

Pure bullshit exposed. It was rehearsed, performed, taped, and released to be political.

    The children were brainwashed.

No person in his right mind, not even a child, would sing any such awfully worded song towards your Messiah.

The parents of unbrainwashed children are naturally horrified at just how far the Left is going in it's efforts to recreate the Hitler Youth.

So I see what you're really upset about is that the fundraising effort is succeeding, right?

Hmmm....let's see....."pledge allegience to the flag AND THE REPUBLIC FOR WHICH IT STANDS"....vs "Thank god for the Holy Gift of Obama How Could We Go Through The Day Without His Holy Presence."

No, there's no difference there, pledging allegience to the republic and worshipping a single man. Not at all.
