I am part of the media, and hate dissapoint you, but I am not a leftist.
[quote=maybelooking;74713]Probably opposite to the way the rightist media will treat it.If this turns out to be true, and Clinton was using domestic spying, how will the leftist media treat the story?
The difference between the wire-tapping programs is Princess Diana was a foreign national, and thus under different legal conventions. Bush's program seeks to wiretap US citizens, something with far less precedent then the warrant-less wiretapping of foreign citizens. Clearly if this wiretapping is true, then it is a violation of privacy, and possibly illegal, but it is still not the same as Bush’s wiretapping.
It's what I do. I write news copy for broadcast news radio. What makes you part of the media?
It is one thing to tap a foreign phone that happens to call Americans. It is quite another to tap American phones when they call out. And it is a court-recognized violation of the right not to be searched without a warrant.
Why does everyone have a problem with this wiretapping? They aren't listening to everyone, OK? They are listening to people that communicate with terrorist suspects---they are NOT listening to you talking to your mother about what she wants for Christmas or any bullshit like that. And it's not like this is anything new---they've been doing this for years! Stop being so paranoid!![]()
You don't know that and neither do I. Wiretapping of ANY kind should concern ALL Americans. We cannot trust that restrictions placed on the definition of terrorist, or worthy of surveillance, are adhered to.
If you trust that your rights will be protected, your judgement is automatically suspect.
