    S.C.'s Wilson Rakes In $750,000 in Less Than 48 Hours;

    Opponent Tops $1 Million

    With a political arms race in full force, Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) has raised almost $750,000 in less than 48 hours since his shout of "You lie!" to President Obama during the Wednesday address to Congress, almost matching the Internet-fueled haul of his likely Democratic opponent.

    A senior GOP official said Wilson, who apologized to White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel after the health-care speech but has since refused a more public apology, has turned his own previous sleepy campaign machine into an Web-friendly effort. Just as liberals have poured cash into the campaign of Rob Miller, who lost to Wilson by almost eight percentage points in 2008, conservatives are pouring contributions into Wilson's campaign at an astonishing rate.

    Miller, a former Iraq war veteran, has raised more than $1 million for his 2010 rematch with Wilson, according to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

    After liberal Internet activists turned Miller into a cause celebre in their effort to extract revenge on Wilson, conservatives joined the fray. Wilson, who hired GOP web strategist David All, now has ads running on conservative-leaning web sites such as the Drudge Report.

    I'm in the wrong bi'ness. I wanna hollar spazoid dumb shit for a living. Arnold Scwartzenegger's office is less than 2 miles away from my house. Maybe I can go call him something stoopid and become a media pinata. Or maybe answer a question in some unpopular but righty freindly way.

    On a non rhetorical note...I don't think Wilson should be made to apologize in front of the house. That's what righties would do if the tables were turned...I think we souldn't stoop.

    I think he owed the President, and this nation, an apology for behaving as though he were 7 and not as a public servant whose livelihood comes from taxes.

    This downward spiral of adult behavior has the right playing to their low educated, hate mongering right wing the talk show pundits have given them. If this is the best republicans can do, they are on their way out. MOST in this nation, over 70% , back Obama.

    I think I also worry that too much brow beating can be used by conservative media to accuse the left of trying to distract Americans from the "noble motives of the right"...which are derailing healthcare reform for the good of the American people.

    Honestly, I would like to see more of this kind of behavior. The British Parliament does it all the time.

    Why not...righties drive through life under the influence of impaired thinking, exhibiting sloppy reasoning, with highly compartmentalized beliefs, double standards, hypocrisy, self-blindness, a profound ethnocentrism, and a ferocious dogmatism that makes it unlikely anyone could ever change their minds with evidence or logic. Cherry picking what they do and do not like about the British government, and presenting that as evidence that they're right about something is to be expected.

    I don't hate their health care system. You mistake me for a conservative.

    Though even if I didn't like their health care system, I fail to see why I couldn't like the way they interact in Parliament.

    I see the drawback in the British system as being more difficult to present an argument clearly.
    "Heartland sponsors the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change (NIPCC), an international network of scientists who write and speak out on climate change. Heartland pays a team of scientists approximately $300,000 a year to work on a series of editions of Climate Change Reconsidered" - Heartland internal fundraising plan

    Obviously I don't want people just shouting "LIAR!" But if a President wants to address Congress there should be some debate. Otherwise, what's the point, other than him trying to boost his approval rating?
