A truly, truly sad day for Americans...

Very true. The President's immigration plan stinks. This is the one area that I don't agree with him. Well, that and NCLB.

It may be time to stop thinking of America in terms of a haven of entitlement and isolation from the rest of the world. Our freedoms are what define us, not our white, middle-class, Christian population, confused though many of us are on that point. The global economy is an unstoppable force. Trying to maintain the status quo in the face of that juggernaut will only make the adjustment more painful, in my opinion.

That said, I don't know enough about the immigration bill to offer an opinion on that directly. But it seems to me to be far from cut-and-dried.
