Yes, the Nazis did target the gays in Germany. And there is a lot of the Nazi methodology in the current administration, probably because the President's grandfather spoke highly of his German "business partner".
But let us not kid ourselves. The real agenda here has nothing to do with the gays and everything to do with preventing the Mideast wars and the lies used to start them from being THE issue for the November elections

THe frightening thing is why the american people voted for the amandment.

I'm pretty sure gay marriage is outlawed in most states already. Why make an amendment for it? It seems like a waste of time.

i don't see why same-sex unions are outlawed. i am not gay, but who are the leaders of this country to ban a freedom of choice? the same benefits to a heterosexual married couple should be offered to homosexual couples. of course, homosexuals cannot reproduce, and homosexuality is a perversion from the norm, but homosexuality is a reality and should not be ignored or oppressed as an institution.

i am in the middle, i suppose. i believe in freedoms and small gov't with low taxes. we need gov't only as security and stability...

Actually, I think it's the word "marriage" in itself. Marriage means, to most people, the legal bind between a male and a female. When it comes to same-sex unions, I think people object to that because of what "marriage" means.
Call it something else -- civil union, legal union, permanent togetherness or whatever, and let them have the rights of married couples. Just change the language. "Holy matrimony" and "marriage" may not be the best terms to apply to same-sex relationships. Lots of people feel strongly about that.

The only thing worries me here is that I see traditional America being chipped away. You can't make any reference to Christmas or have any display of religion in public. Illegals now have social security rights and we have said that it is okay for them to commit identity theft. Spanish is slowly becoming as popular as English. I see traditional America being chipped away and maybe an amendment to protect marriage isn't all bad.

It is near impossible to stop expansion of america and the chainging of our ways. I feel that the only traditional american that will be left is that sheet of paper that declares we have rights. If america maintains its freedom it is the same country. When it expells such freedoms well then we have a sticky situation on our hands now dont we.
