    A Plan for Energy Independence

After Afghanistan, our next targets should have been Saudi Arabia and Iran, the biggest supporters of Islamofascism in the world. But we couldn’t do it, because we are too dependent on Arab Oil to attack either one of those countries.

Here’s my point. From the beginning, our efforts in the War on Terror have been hamstrung by an economic dependence on countries that harbor terrorists. We have enormous oil reserves in this country that we can not tap because of environmental regulations, but instead we are importing oil from our enemies. This is madness! It would be the equivalent of shutting down American industries in the middle of World War II and getting 90% of our machinery through trade with the axis powers.

It needs to stop. America must become energy independent. The ultimate solution will be alternative energy, but it will take years to develop the new technologies and the infrastructure. I propose that begin a Manhattan Project for the development of alternate energy, so that we can have superior alternatives to oil by the end of the decade. In the short term, America has more then enough oil offshore and in places like ANWAR to keep the economy going. The time has come to tell Saudi Arabia and Iran where they can shove their oil.

Please share your thoughts on my proposal.

    Middle Eastern Magnet

"Say it isn's So" The Middle East is a quagmire of Political and Religious power struggle. The rich and power elite use religion to stimulate action by the average citizens. Is this anything different than has happened in centuries past in every other nation and continent? The sale of oil supports the rich and power elite and they manipulate their people by the means of religious zelotry to gain more power regionally and make an impact on the international level. Iran was done a favor by the current coalition in getting rid of the Bathist in Iraq. What do they want now? They want to become the regional power center in the Middle East. Their current leader (I have forgotten his name at the moment) wants his name in the paper, he wants the name of Iran in the papers, and he wants the western world to feel threatened. His meathods are nothing new. North Korea used those same tactics to gain recognition and attention from Great Britain and the US, so why not repeat what works? Saudi Arabia is playing quiet. She wants to pretend to be the mediator, the middle man, but in reality Saudi Arabia is more concerned with a regional threat than an international ally.
So what is the western international community to do? Becoming energy independent might be the answer, does that mean the terrorist organizations will wither on the vine? Not likely. Economic hardship generally increases actions by maniacal organizations. The best solution is doing what we are doing now. Build up the new Iraq. Continue to support Afghanistan so that these two nations can prosper and help to stabalize the Middle East. This will spoil the plans of Iran to become the power center. Ultimately the many Middle Eastern nations loath the west because of Israel, they represent the core of the hatred that many middle eastern nations have for the west.
If we are successful in Iraq and Afghanistan then there will be three nations vice one that will support the west and will help advance the Middle East past 18th century and into the 21st century.

Here we go again with this. I have yet to understand why nothing was ever done after the oil crisis in the 70s. Have we not had enough time to come up with something different and a better plan or does Big Oil really reign over us?

That's pretty funny, Young Marine. This is the best they can do after 30-plus years? Hmmm.

It costs about $1.5 million to build an FCX, so Honda doesn't sell them. To accumulate real-world miles, it leases them for a token $500 a month to Honda-picked governments, colleges and, so far, one family. The first two in the USA were delivered to the city of Los Angeles in 2002.
Yep, I call that real progress, there.
