What did any of you think of Herman Cains Press Conference answering the allegations?

I just finished watching the press conference and I have to say, he did seem to answer to the best of his knowledge the questions presented by the MSM reporters. I think that the Cain campaign can recover from this possibly. What I did like is that he did lay it on the media about the responsibility of reporting facts instead of allegations without anything to back them up. I thought that was pretty powerful and indeed, the media has gone out of control since the 08 election. I think we can all attest to that. If any of you watched the press conference, what did you think?

The press conference left me wondering why he even held it? His lawyer is a first class jerk, lecturing people the way he did, and whining about 14 year old cases, with no due process for Cain-like a court of law. Well, if these women are telling lies on Cain that impact on his reputation, then, he should file a defamation case against them. Plus he was standing up there in front of cameras, for all the world to see, making campaign speeches, but, whining about others lawyers doing it.

Cain can't even keep his story straight while speaking during one press conference. First he says it's the left-wing media trying to keep him from being the nominee ( which is laughable on it's face cuz dems would love for him to be the nominee). Then he denies that he has any proof of any conspiracy, and points to "coincidences", which he didn't name specifically, that lead him to believe someone unknown is after him. Paranoid much? There are going to be more allegations he says. And they're all going to be lies too. Meanwhile, he hasn't provided anything of substance to demonstrate they're all lying.

That vagueness could be on the advice of legal counsel. If this does end up in court, then he wouldn't want to give away strategy to the other side.

I'd personally like @bonncaruso to apply his math skills here and shed some light on what the odds are that one guy could be the target of so many accusations that were completely untrue even though the National Restaurant Association saw fit to pay settlements to at least two of them.

It's not like this sort of thing regularly happens to presidential nominees that the Democrat "machine" doesn't approve of, or that it's routine for men to be accused of this and have their bosses pay off the accusers in exchange for them being quiet.

It's not going to end up in court because he's full of crap. If there were any chance of a legal proceeding counsel wouldn't allow him to discuss it all.

If it was to end up in court, I hope the lawyers get to go on a fishing expedition and ask him if he's ever cheated on his wife so we could nail him for perjury.

The press should have pressed him more on that point. He's still calling the settlements "separation agreements". What? I don't know that much about separation agreements. But, isn't it a little unusual for your employer to include a non-disclosure clause in a separation agreement?

Lots of variables to plug in: number of years in the market, number of employees, number of social contacts. Would be a big numbers thing. Furthermore, true, in the sense of accusations or testimony, is often a matter of interpretation. A witness to a traffic crime could say that the light was on it's way from turning from green to red or could say that the light had just gone yellow. It would essentially mean the same thing.

I don't think we even need many numbers to be able to say that where there is a lot of smoke, there is fire. Especially if more accusations appear and outline similar experiences.

    Just want to point out...

that the need for a press conference on sexual allegations is never good for a campaign. No matter what, from this point on, Herman Cain is tainted and the GOP is stuck in a bad place. It was a similar but not identical story with Bill Clinton almost 20 years ago - except the extra-marital sex he had was consentual.

I believe that today marks the end of Cain's campaign, only, he doesn't know it yet.

Expect Gingrich's numbers to get a temporary boost over the next 3-6 weeks.
