We Repubs get credit for this?

ReidAt this point, the caucus is not ready to sign off on a gas tax or any tax increase,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid told reporters Thursday. The issue came up as Democrats push a multi-year transportation authorization bill. Some of them see a gas tax increase as a way to finance increased infrastructure spending.

Typical that the Democrat's instinctively turn to tax increases to solve their problems (to pay for their pet projects), but I give cudos to them for realizing this gas tax would be a death blow to them come 2012. (including for Obama if he helped pass such a tax)

"We".... in reference to a political party.

It never ceases to amaze me.

I just can't get my head around it.

    I know I harp on it. I know it's a dead horse I'm whipping.... I ... just.... don't..... get.... it.

Wow Jojo!! Did you even read the flipping article??

Despite pressure from some members, Senate Democratic leaders are reluctant to embrace an increase in the gas tax as they search for ways to rebuild the nation’s infrastructure.

“At this point, the caucus is not ready to sign off on a gas tax or any tax increase,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) told reporters Thursday afternoon.

...and yet where are your ideas to keep the infrastructure from falling apart?

Republicans want the infrastructure to fall apart so they can say "we told you government doesn't work, and we have done our best to prove as much for the last 30 years by governing as poorly as is conceivably possible while still garnering any votes." They can then say "See government doesn't work, this is why we need to cut government and privatize things." So infrastructure be damned, that "is not the role of government."
There is no true opposition between liberty as such and control as such, for every liberty rests on a corresponding act of control. The true opposition is between the control that cramps the personal life and the spiritual order, and the control that is aimed at securing the external and material conditions of their free and unimpeded development.
