    Democratic Revolt

It's getting pretty obvious that the Dems will not cave the way Obama wants them too. Obama's attitude is that the GOP are hostage takers & he's willing to negotiate with these hostage takers if they threaten to hurt the hostages....The American people
    I & many Dems say...No Way!!.....You don't negotiate with hostage takers...You kill them!!

Harry Reid & Nancy Pelosi are rumored to be fighting this Gutless deal!!...Good for them!!

& why isn't the Teaparty screaming at this deficit blowing deal?!?! (oh right....They're only against government spending & deficits that help their country as opposed to making them personally wealthy!)

It's not an ideal deal (no pun intended) but if enacted, it does prevent a lot of the damage the tax cuts would have caused if extended permanently. Clearly, the GOP does not believe they will have the political power prior to 2012 to get that done, so they do it for two years. They're still unpaid for, but in two years the economy might be strong again and if that is the case, it will be much easier to justify the tax increase we need to get the budget deficit under control in the long term. And, we get a 13-month unemployment extension that the people need. It's a little bit of compromise to put more stability under long term goals. I like it.
Say what you need to say, but if it is "everyone who disagrees with me is x," then do us all a favor and shut the fuck up.

I'm a liberal. Guess what, we all are. It's not about liberal vs. not, it's about progressive vs. conservative.

The GOP will still fight it tooth & nail in two years & they would have had to eventuially sign the unemployment extension anyway. Obama gave away the farm & got nothing in return! If Obama is that weak negotiating with our internal enemies (the GOP) imagine how badly he'd do with Al Quieda or N. Korea!

I SEE IT THIS WAY : THE 'Bama supporters failed to get their butts out there to vote this past November. The 'indies" bought the crap that the Tea Baggers and extremist Repubers sold them so The 'Bama DOES NOT HAVE THE HOUSE ANYMORE AND WILL HAVE A REDUCED SENATE TO WORK WITH. That has given those who want 'Bama out more life. Look those who voted for him 2 years ago wanted a miracle. Sorry but The 'Bama DOES NOT WALK ON WATER AND THAT IS WHAT IT WOULD HAVE TAKEN FOR HIM TO FIX THE CRAP THAT THE PISS ANT SHRUB GOT US INTO.

And the voters go and give those bufoons who think like the Shrub another chance. GO FIGURE !!!!
' Oh bury me, then rise ye up
    And break your heavy chains
And water with the tyrants' blood
    The freedom you have gained.
And in the great new family,
    The family of the free,
    With softly spoken, kindly word
    Remember also me."

it's the democratic congress's own fault. they should have not left the tax issue to the very last moment. if they would have acted at the beginning of year or even last year, i think they would have had a very good chance of only extending the tax cuts for those earning under 250,000 and leaving those for the so-called rich to expire.

the sad thing is the democrats left reid and pelosi in their leadership spots.

I agree with that...but do you hold the GOP blameless in this money grab for the rich that will cost our grandchildren billions?

I was disappointed that Obama caved in to the "tax cuts for the rich" - however, I wouldn't have put it past the Republicans to not sign on to extending the benefits to the unemployed and that might have been a worst disaster. No tax cuts for anybody and no extensions for the unemployed would probably be the last nail in the coffin. I believe Obama when he says he has more concern for the country and main stream America than in making the Reps look like the "party of the rich" that they are. I think enough people got to see the Reps in action and showing their true colors, caring more for the wealthy.

By giving in to the GOP, the middle-class gets to keep the same tax rates and the unemployed won't have to face such a grim Christmas season. Hopefully all those corporations that seem to be raking in the profits will consider hiring more people and the economy will start getting better. i think it will be a series of compromises from now on to get anything done, hopefully, as smart as Obama is, he has good reasons for choosing as he does.

I'm not going to abandon Obama, that would be exactly what the GOP was also banking on, his base leaving him and turning to them, the ones responsible for the big mess to begin with and the ones who care crap about regular people. I choose to have a "wait and see" attitude and continue to believe that truth eventually wins out.
I suppose I can understand the callous selfish disregard of the conservatives. It is their pride in it that passes me by. Rack Jite
