ABC News outfitted a diving team with special hazmat suits and sent them to the Gulf to see the damage the oil leak and subsequent cleanup are causing underwater. They found that the leaking oil is combining with the cleanup chemicals to form a toxic soup.

    From ABC News:

For the first time since the BP Deepwater Horizon tragedy over a month ago, "Good Morning America" Weather Anchor Sam Champion, along with Philippe Cousteau and a team of specially-trained divers, reported from under the water in the Gulf of Mexico to see first-hand what is happening beneath the surface. Wearing special hazmat dive suits, the team is the first to dive in - and document - the oil-laden waters off of the Louisiana coastline.

The video can be found at the link below.

Philippe Cousteau Jr.'s comment after seeing the particles of oil under the surface, the column or cloud of oil as they were diving: 'This Is a Nightmare... a Nightmare'

I'm not hearing much from the 'Drill baby drill' crowd on all this.

I figured I would at least hear that BP is a liberal corporation or some such shit.

[/quote]Cousteau needs to keep his fench liberal enviromentalistic butt out of the way as BP tries to clean this minor mishap up.

He is not a expert in the oilfield business and doesn't know what he is talking about. His comments are baseless and have no merit. This is another media attempt to smear the oilfield business by using him. This spill is not as bad as it seems by the media waging a propaganda war against BP which has a good safety record.

Minor mishap? Are you smoking crack? Come on man even a capitalistic pig has to see the damage done. Oh and by the way ... Vortex lives in the area and helps with the pelican rescues. She knows the impact of what happens on shore better than a dude sitting on a rig playing on his computer all day.

I love the fact that you being serious is more hysterical than anything I could come up with to mock you.

But you are soooo good at it! A little FYI:

Fench : paradoxical act of aggression - as a fench is entirely unprovoked, any retribution won't serve as due revenge, because the revenge was provoked by the fench. No prior warning can be given to the victim, and a fench cannot be used as a threat, becase these both imply provocation of some sort - a fench must be an act of wanton, spontaneous violence. In other words, an act of aggression so successful that full revenge is impossible.

Can be used in various forms to describe the act of aggression (usually resulting in comic humiliation of the victim), the aggressor and the victim, ie:

    1. "I've just witnessed a particularly amusing fench"

    2. "I've just been fenched"

    3. "You're worse than a bastard - you're a fencher!"

    Hah!

As soon as I saw the OP, I started to look forward to reading two things:

    1) someone's comment about Cousteau being French and (therefore) commie scum (the post of my dreams would include the words "cheese eating surrender monkey", but hey, I'm not complaining about what we got here in the slightest)

    and

    2) your response to said comment.

And I'm happy to say that my expectations have been met.

I also find it funny that regarding the story of these two men who went underwater to see this horrible sight first hand, it was the scientist with the rich family pedigree of underwater expertise that was belittled... not the TV weatherman from the daytime morning chat show.
