    Female Tattoos

A thread had a few pictures that got me to thinking about female tattoos. My wife & 2 of my 3 daughters have very small ones (which I was not happy for them to get...but that shows you how much control I have) in inconspicuous places (ankle, foot, etc) but I am usually turned off by female tattoos & am guessing most men are.

My opinion women with tattoos is the same as men: if it's tastefully done chances are I will like it. I don't really think full sleeves are very lady like, but once again I have seen some pretty cool ones that I didn't mind at all. Overall I think tats are cool

I have one. It's easily hidden by clothing and I never really cared if it was a turn off to anyone else or not.

Tattoos, IMHO, are a form of expressing a person's search for identity. Which is why they are much more common among the young than their elders.

One of the main prerogatives of youth is to define itself, to set itself apart, to, as Jung said, individuate.

But DW, that's exactly why I don't like them. Because people get old. All of us. Our identity in college is almost unrecognisable from our identity when we turn 60, and that goes double for our bodies.

I just don't get it. The ladies can rock on with their bad selves, it's none of my business, I'm sure they didn't get the tattoo thinking, "man this is gonna land me a 36 year old dad with love handles who likes star trek.. yummy" ... but I just don't get it.

My sister has three and wants another. But to me my initial reaction is "if that's expressing your identity.. then you're telling me you identify yourself and cheap, unattractive and without context?"

When I think of women with tattoos I think of my late aunt Katherine. She got a tat many, many years ago that said Larry's Sex Kitten. Ok, gross then and gross now ... imo. Anyway, it may have been cute back when she was younger but 40 years later she aged, her skin lost it's elasticity and she was a grandmother with a tat on her arm.

Ewwww.... now a picture of that on a poster hanging in every tattoo parlour with the caption "Think about it...." would make more sense to me as cigarette labels.

I'd say it depends on how many. I don't find a woman who's entire arm or body part is covered with tattoos attractive. A small tattoo here and there is perfectly fine and can be attractive.

Some tattoos are just so incredibly stupid one has to wonder what people were thinking. I know somebody that got a cupcake with a horseshoe on top in pastel colors. Not only a horrible idea, but it was so poorly done, the cupcake was all oblong. When I first saw it I asked if it was one of those temporary tattoos. It's one of the worse tattoos I've ever seen.

Derailing my own topic here a bit but....Why do most guys see a woman's ankle bracelet as a sign that says..."I'm easy?"
