Much reporting on opposition to the Obama administration portrays it as a sort of populist uprising. Yet the antics of the socialism-and-death-panels crowd are only part of the story of anti-Obamaism, and arguably the less important part. If you really want to know what’s going on, watch the corporations.

How can you do that? Follow the money — donations by corporate political action committees.

Look, for example, at the campaign contributions of commercial banks — traditionally Republican-leaning, but only mildly so. So far this year, according to The Washington Post, 63 percent of spending by banks’ corporate PACs has gone to Republicans, up from 53 percent last year. Securities and investment firms, traditionally Democratic-leaning, are now giving more money to Republicans. And oil and gas companies, always Republican-leaning, have gone all out, bestowing 76 percent of their largess on the G.O.P.

These are extraordinary numbers given the normal tendency of corporate money to flow to the party in power. Corporate America, however, really, truly hates the current administration. Wall Street, for example, is in “a state of bitter, seething, hysterical fury” toward the president, writes John Heilemann of New York magazine. What’s going on?

    Paul Krugman Reports

Milton Friedman once said of a geneal opinion on Communism: "Don't look for the opinions that come from people's mouths. Look at the opinion that comes from their feet. Are more Chinese going from the PRC to Taiwan, or from Taiwan to the PRC?" (paraphrased from a 1970's town hall at a college).

Today it appears the same principle can be applied to checkbooks. If you've wondered how effective the Obama administration is doing, just look at the checks.

Boy, I don't know what's going on. The President brags about keeping his boot on the throat of BP, demonizes banks, insurance companies, and brokerage firms, has SEIU and ACORN going to executives homes to intimidate and threaten and I just really can't figure out why they aren't all saying, "Thank you, Sir, may I have some more." That's certainly what I thought of on April 15th when President Obama thought I should be thanking him. Silly me. I thought he should be thanking those of us in the bare majority who still pay income tax.

Obama is the most left wing president since FDR and he is pushing the country to the right through his incompetence. I mean let's face it the GOP is the most corrupt major party in the developed English speaking world with the possible exception of the ANC and please note I said possible exception. I am far from certain that the ANC as opposed to its current leader is more corrupt than the GOP. But compared to the Progressive incompetence on display in DC corrupt competence looks pretty good.

The GOP is anything but competent. They were a miserable failure during the entire 8 years of the Bush administration, and during the Clinton years they were responsible for things like Gramm-Leach-Bliley.

The only thing that sucks worse than the GOP is the DNC.

I can agree with that last statement. The last Rasmussen I read had Obama at -20 on approval (Sarah Palin territory or worse) and the GOP ahead 8 points on Generic polling for congress. Nobody wants the old GOP back but the electorate has become convinced that the DNC is completely brain dead.

Guess again sport...Generic congressional approval numbers are 42.7%-Democrats and 42.3%-Republicans, and Obama approval is 47.5%, with disapproval at 46%. I can't believe someone with a brain believes that chronic parade of GOP friendly anomalies that Republimussen reports tries to pass off.

You've been had by wishfull thinking and or a bad choice in cable news networks.

What is the matter with righties...they have one main pollster, and one main cable news network, and one main radio personality. No wonder you guys all repeat the same unoriginal deluded crapola. The electorate is split down the middle out here in the real world outside conservative media's opiate like coccon. Unless of course you believe Fox, Republimussen, and Rush are all accurate, fair, and balanced...if so there is no hope for you.

[/quote] Denial is not just a river in Egypt. One election since swearing in has gone D and the DNC plus Obama popularity is highly positive. You might wish to do an inventory of ingestions to see if you might have inadvertently put yourself in need of a 12 step program.
