I think the coverage of the two US servicewomen being captured is pretty telling.

You know, the blonde pretty one that grabbed a rifle and fought off her captors to the last breath - except it turns out she didn't - and was rescued by special forces to be brough thome to flags and ribbons and fanfare and parades and interviews and then she wrote a book about how fake it all was and how the media used her. And the fat black woman who was also captured at the same time and.... and....

..and I really have no idea if she's alive or dead, rescued or still out there.

true, true. But that's still a form of bigotry, which is what was being suggested. Even though it's one of those bizzare ones where people idolize characteristics that they themsleves don't have (fuglies are just as likely as the attractive to only care about the attractive)

If the black one were hot and the white one looked like Don Knotts in the rain, then that would probably even out to make them even.

But what we got was actually pretty shocking.

The pretty 19 year old aryan was named Jessica Lynch, she was from Palistine West Virginia, and she wrote a book telling how the army lied abotuy everything that ever happened to her from the ambush to the rescue from the hospital (with the doors open).

I'd bet my left arm noone can name the black chubby girl that was also taken prisoner. I honestly don't know if she was rescued, killed, or just wandered back to base a week later because even the Iraqis didn't want her.
