Here is a movie that I would recommend that might not be so well known, especially outside of Britain.

"I mean, who would have noticed another madman around here?" - Blackadder
"Politicians like to panic, they need activity. It's their substitute for achievement." - Yes Minister
In all history there is no war which was not hatched by the governments, the governments alone, independent of the interests of the people, to whom war is always pernicious even when successful.

Truth, like gold, is to be obtained not by its growth, but by washing away from it all that is not gold.

I'm in the middle of a post-apocalyptic film marathon these last coupe weeks. I watched a recent movie called The Road (based on the Pulitzer Prize winning book of the same name), which was surprisingly good. It's about a man and his son traveling to the sea to seek a way to survive in a dead Earth. I'm not posting the trailer since it doesn't do the film justice, just watch it.
I have close friends who are atheists.
In the main I find them thoughtful, well-educated and generally happy.
They even bathe on a regular basis.
I'm hoping to rent "Moon" this weekend. I've heard nothing but good about it.
"Seriously, the wit displayed in this retort has to be some of your best stuff. Now, I am not gonna comment on whether it was nit, half, or dim. Let's leave that to the readers" - Dave Hansen
Enlisted men are stupid, but extremely cunning and sly, and bear considerable watching. - Army Officer's Guide, 1863
I just watched Moon as well. The concept (mining He-3 for fusion reactions) and the title are dumb, but the movie itself is a keeper.
