MSNBC suspends Schultz for calling Ingraham a 'slut'

MSNBC has suspended Ed Schultz, host of the “The Ed Show,” for one week without pay for calling conservative talk show host Laura Ingraham a ‘right-wing slut’ on his syndicated radio program Tuesday.

“Remarks of this nature are unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” MSNBC said in a statement.

MSNBC said Schultz will address the remarks on his show Wednesday night, and begin his leave immediately afterward. He will return on June 6th.

Ingraham reponded via her Facebook page on Wednesday.

“Re. the crude comments made about me by Ed Schultz on his radio program: First, I was surprised to learn that Ed Schultz actually hosted a radio show. Is it only available online?” she wrote.

“Second, I have to get back to recording the audio edition of my new book “Of Thee I Zing.” Now I’m tempted to insert one additional zing—about men who preach civility but practice misogyny.”

I'm not the biggest fan of MSNBC, but they sure do a pretty good job of policing themselves. Kudos to the higher-ups there.

conservatives are very frequently misogynists. if i ever gave the impression they were the only people capable of it, i misspoke.

that said, schultz isn't actually talking about palin's private sex life. limbaugh is. there IS a distinction to be made there. limbaugh's language proves him to be a misogynist. schultz's only shows him to be careless.

Curious/convenient rationalization. And it was Laura Ingram, not Palin that Schultz was insulting. (Bill Maher was the show host who referred to Palin as the "dumb twat". Which you also excused through rationalization.)

you really don't see the difference between calling someone a "corporate whore" and calling them a slut because they want birth control? that's very telling.

And the issue with Fluke wasn't a matter of her wanting birth control. No one suggested denying that. The issue is/was "who pays for it"? (but you knew that, eh...??)
