Thread: Border residents slam Obama's childish GOP taunts

Nice. Maybe next time Obama will choose to ACTUALLY WORK on this issue instead of grandstand, lie, and pander.


The residents of the Chiricahua-Peloncillo drug and human smuggling corridor that runs from the Mexican border north through eastern Arizona and western New Mexico are circulating a petition to send to the White House in response to President Obama's recent immigration speech.

"It is with great wonderment and sadness that we listened to your May 10 speech on immigration issues. All of the joking about moats and alligators cut residents of Portal, AZ, to the core as we sheltered with friends or at a Red Cross evacuation site, to survive a terrible fire that still threatens our lives and property, as well as our ecotourism-based economy," the letter reads.

It is easy to find humor in someone else's problems. Plus Obama and his ilk doesn't think that there is a border problem. That stupid wench Janet Napolitano didn't think there was a problem when she was in Arizona and doesn't think there is one now. I say if there if the border is so secure, why don't members of congress and their families spend their next vacation down there?

Unfortunate situation on the border, no one actually wants to do anything about it, regardless of party affiliation. There probably isn't much to be done short of creating a streamlined path to citizenship, repealing anti-drug (or pro-drug if you're on the pharma side of things) and anti-prostitution laws. Nail it from every angle, but of course any President who pushed for the above wouldn't have a very bright political future.

Also. Since the left is soooo enamored with Obama on this issue, why don't they give GWB the same credit when the tried the same?

Him and his ilk are "ideologically limited" that way, their short-sightedness and narrow-mindedness constrains them from doing the right thing at the right time. For most people that would be called a "fatal character flaw", but the politicians get away with invoking ideology (and the "principles" they don't have in the first place).

Both of your BDS quotes reek of the typical partisan lies, and BS. GWB ordered us to Afghanistan, and ordered us to remain there. He remains the reason we're there, mostly. Hence why he's owed much credit on OBL's death, Afghanistan's liberation, etc.

Let's not forget that the GOP controlled this country from 2001-2008 & did NOTHING along the border. Border security is a GOP electioneering Talking Point that they trot out when they aren't in the WH....Nothing more!
