Can We Honestly Criticize Armed Resistance to Political Dissent?

Can we honestly criticize armed resistance to political dissent by police? Whenever dubya was in public people who might criticize him were only allowed to protest blocks away where media wasn't present. I believe that if those protesters had refused to obey the orders to not criticize dubya in his presence and had insisted on getting closer, police would ultimately have used gas and firearms on them.

I agree with the op also i think that Bush's free speech zones might have save some people's lives. They were just that desperate to not have people speak out publicly at any of their events. PR would not allow for that. Constructed lies would not allow for that. Propaganda would not allow for that.
There have been no "free speech zones" under Obama.
    Isn't change great?

Free speech zones, another ludicrous concept upheld by our brain dead Supreme Court. This is easily the worst Court we've ever had. So now the Justice Department wants to hold "potential domestic terrorists" (read; those pesky dissenters) without charges and without representation. And where is the Supreme Court on this? Nowhere! Asleep at the wheel.

While Republicans screamed out their dedication to the US Constitution, and especially to its First and Second Amendments, they quietly trashed the Fourth, Fifth, and Eighth Amendments, the ones which actually protect citizens from abuse by their government. The Obama Administration has done nothing to restore these rights, choosing instead to renew portions of the so-called Patriot Act. Freedom has not been so abused by our government since the Administration of John Adams, and his infamous Alien and Sedition Acts.

You should have been here for the battle of Seattle, just wearing a "Say No to the WTO" would get you arrested, go voluntarily or get pepper sprayed or worse.

We are losing the single thing that makes America America, or constitution and rule of law.

I do not promote violence, but I also will not ever go to an event like the WTO protests unarmed again.

It's asanine to take a weapon to a protest or rally. What are you going to do if you get arrested or pepper sprayed, are you going to pull out your gun and shoot them?, or maybe someone will wrestle it away from you and use it. Well, you didn't specify it would be a gun, so i may be way off here. How armed are you going to be? Just curious.

I dunno, but if some clown feels the need to shot at me with a rubber bullet things may get ugly.

And if they refused to be arrested? Re-read the post and reply in context.
