Why do politicians stick with talking points rather than explain more complex and probably more effective policies?

Sounds like a scene from Two and a Half Men.....myself I happened to pick-up 3 TV's, that all of them were over 37 inches with one 45in screen. Nothing wrong with them at all people were throwing them away. All because they went and got flat screens. We gave one to this Seniors Group at a church. My sons kept a 37 inch to play their video games on. So I am going to sell the 42 inch for like 50 bucks.....hopefully to someone who has kids and would like a big TV for them.
