"Hate" is a strong word for an elected body of government, but a little uncomfortableness is good. It's like if you're by yourself and a child molester enters the room, you know he's not gonna try to cop a feel, but still you gotta keep your eye on him...just in case.

Yes. Justice must reflect the attitudes of society, and society cares rather a lot about skin pigments - as much as I would like it to be otherwise.

Why don't we track countries of origin or religion?

Country of origin is already tracked - they're called "immigration records." And U.S. law is supposed to steer clear of religion.

I agree with you that it reinforces division. But I don't think prejudice has been marginalized enough to take our eye off it. As things improve, the protections should be gradually rolled back to make everything fair. But, we aren't all there yet.

Not as previously constituted, and not with the same relevant force. There are now more race pimps out there then actual racists. That is to say, there are more people out there using racism as a justification for racism, then there are racists. I obviously don't have figures to back that up - it's my experience. I understand others may have different experiences. But in NC, MD, and VA... that seems to be the way things are (with some exceptions).

Of course not. And please don't stop exploring it in art, music and juris prudence of all kinds.... But the categories must become meaningless over time. So let's get started......
