What is a Libertarian?

BG told someone the other day that they didn't know anything about the Libertarian party. All that I know of it was a joke someone made about Libertarians are Republican who smoke pot. So what does the party stand for? How are they different than the Tea Party? How are they different than the Republican party?

Libertarian's stand for basic rights, non-governmental influence in our lives unless we require it, the right to succeed or fail, the right to take care of yourself, and more.

Republicans are for big government, like the dems.

Libertarians feel that you should live you life according to your will, and a true libertarian has no party! The party is a party of one, the individual, but they understand that what is good for one, is collective, it is good for all. The dems and repubs dictate what is good or not, that is a moral crime.
