So say somebody has chosen in the last several years that they could not afford their insurance. Sure, they make plenty of money but have been living on credit and are living paycheck to paycheck, literally not having the money for $400 per month insurance payments.

Healthcare reform has now passed, requiring this person to purchase the insurance that he does not have the money for. How does this bill help this person? Or does it even?

People who cant afford coverage will get assistance.

What is it about "vast new entitlement program" don't you get?

Tax wealth + redistribute wealth = social justice

So people that are currently making over 100,000 dollars per year but have been foolish with their money will get assistance? Do you know this to be true?

The bill doesn't help this person. This person's an idiot. The bill helps all the other people who have been paying more for their own insurance to pay for his eventual service through the system he was exploiting: knowing full well he would live large and get the same emergency treatment as those who were scrimping and going without in order to pay for their own, and his, health insurance.

The cost to those who were responsible adults will decrease (as they no longer pay for the deadbeats) and the deadbeats will now have to pay for themselves, unless they can demonstrate a genuine inability to do so.

Why anyone would feel 'free' continuing paying for the deadbeats I don't know... but it takes all kinds.

I didn't say someone like that would get government help.

The government will most likely set an income and asset level like they do with Medicaid.

I appreciate your sentiment in your other paragraphs and tend to agree with most of it. But this is exactly what I want to focus on. This person I ahve described has shown an inability to pay even though he makes a considerable sum. My questions are?

Does he get financial assistance to pay for insurance?

If not, what happens differently now when he needs care? Anything? Or will he still get the needed treatment and the rest of us will pick up the tab through cost increases?

Simple, straightforward questions that I am curious about. I seem to get nothing but the runaround from everyone. Does anyone even know?

You said he would 'get assistance'. What did you mean by that if your implication wasn't governemnt help?

If a rich guy can get all his medical needs from an emergency room and never pay for it or go

bankrupt where do all the examples come from the Left uses of people who cant get coverage and

    go bankrupt from major illness?

I said "People who cant afford coverage will get assistance".

The government decides if you can afford it. Well off people will have to downsize their lifestyle

    or pay the fine.

    No.

First off, rich people without health insurance are idiots and probably extremely rare, individually

purchased health insurance is already tax deductible. For someone with a large income that would

    be a no-brainer.

Second, if that person is a rich moron with a criminally negligent tax consultant they will now be

forced by the government to buy insurance.

Simple, straightforward questions that I am curious about. I seem to get nothing but the runaround from everyone. Does anyone even know?

Most people already know the answers because they have been following the debate.
