wikileaks founder nominated for nobel peace prize

WikiLeaks nominated for Nobel Peace Prize - Yahoo! News

I had to come back to drop off this little ray of sunshine. And, with this I am sad to report that the Nobel Peace Prize has officially jumped the shark.

Okay, back to my exile now... :P
When it comes to GOP stupidity, there's no need to make stuff up.

They have to boost the WikiLeaks hype anyway they can.

I'd say he certainly deserves the award.
"If you go to the city of Washington, you will find that almost all of those corporation lawyers and cowardly politicians, members of congress, and mis-representatives of the masses claim, in glowing terms, that they have risen from the ranks to places of eminence and distinction. I am very glad that I cannot make that claim for myself. I would be ashamed to admit that I had risen from the ranks. When I rise it will be with the ranks, and not from the ranks." -Eugene Debs

I don't think I'd go Nobel Peace Prize, but I'd consider Time's Man of the Year.
Take me home Momma and put me to bed. I have seen enough to know I have seen too much.

I wasn't all that impressed with Assange personally after seeing his interview on 60 Minutes last Sunday. While I love the concept of "muckraking", and think we don't see enough of that in the US that isn't done out of political opportunism from the opposition...Assange appeared to lack conviction to me. I think I wanted to see a fired up radical who had some sort of purpose in mind for exposing all the stuff he does, but he just kind of seemed like he was interested in doing what he did because he could.

Maybe he was nervous or something, this was his first camera interview I think.

I think you're right on target with this. Assange is certainly not some noble crusader out to improve the world. I don't think he has the slightest chance of winning because it has never been demonstrated that his initiative actually benefitted people.
