Politifact Takes Republicans to Task with GOP Pledge-O-Meter

In the same vein as the Obameter, which has been tracking the progress on some 500+ promises that Obama made during his campaign, Politifact has created the GOP Pledge-O-Meter to track progress on 57 promises that the GOP made during the recent campaign cycle. Obviously, it's way too early to pretend any kind of conclusions (53 promises haven't been rated yet), but it will be interesting to keep tabs on this.

Boehner, Cantor, and McConnell are oblivious to criticism and have no intention of being held to the promises they have made.

These are the political children and grandchildren of Newt Gingrich.

Newt is a great guy! And, no, these gentelmen (Boehner, Cantor, etc) aren't oblivious to criticism. That's incorrect.

I agree, they should all be held to the same standard.

Great guys don't abandon their dying wife in her hospital bed to go get it on with a staff member. When that staff member becomes the next wife, they don't race off to find another, younger paramour. Great guys don't make a "Contract with America" and then renege on the key points. (How 'bout those term limits, Newt?)

Newt Gingrich is a liar, a cheat, a self-serving, unreliable, and egotistical phoney.

I can understand why YOU would like him so much.

If true that he did that, that's horrible! But, I like him for his pro-business, free market approach to handling this economy and such. I like his views on where this country should go and what needs to be done.

He did all that, and more. You should be more careful when choosing your heroes.

Kinda like John Edwards huh. Except of course liberal.

And if you weren't aware of Gingrichs horseshit behavior (with my apologies to horseshit), you need to ask yourself what else you aren't aware of. Oh, John McCain is not prize either.

There's an outfit in Washington called "The C Street Center." It's sort of a Christian fraternity made up of dedicated officeholders. They have prayer meetings, counsel each other on important issues, and about eight of them live in the house there--it saves them considerable cash compared to maintaining a D. C. apartment. Members and past members include Newt Gingrich, David Vitter, Mark Foley, John Ensign, and Mark Sanford. In fact, so many of them screw around that the main purpose of the prayer meetings seems to be to provide moral cover and grant forgiveness to errant members.

*Note to the astute--Jim DeMint is one of the leaders of the group. Want to bet he gets caught with a woman or boy before his current term expires?

    Is he a moral man?
As a Democrat, I take solace in the fact that the Republicans have nominated the guy who lost the nomination to the guy who lost the presidency to the guy who is now the President.
