    Rednecks aren't that dumb

    In general I've noticed that people tend to think of rednecks as being inbred morons. In some cities there is the general feeling that farmer = redneck. Still, I think people are still just ignorant of others because they are different. We've come so far in overcoming racism, sexism, homophobia, etc... Yet we remain in the dark ages when it comes to city slicker/redneck relations. I think the problem stems from the fact that rednecks simply know how to cut loose and have a good time despite their poverty. I've attached some educational material in the following link:

    Stupidy stupe stupe.
    I suppose you are entitled to your opinion. Still, based on your image, I would think you would be more inclined to be agreeable with the concept that rednecks are not stupid like people think they are.

    Where I come from and currently live its a badge of honor to be a redneck... by some. The meaning is also different depending on who you talk to.

    I live in Texas. Up north it would be easy to say all people in Texas are rednecks, geographically. But here in Texas you start asking people and there is a big gap between redneck and not. You have people who can't stand the term and don't want to be noted as a redneck, people who don't really care what you call them, and people who welcome the title, especially if they literally have a red neck from working in the Texas sun.

    Commonly the term is used as an insult of lesser education, backwoods, or hicks. I have a friend in Canada I talk to frequently, to him and to a lot of Calgary Canadians, the entire US is rednecks.
    The word's actual definition is poor white southern farmer.
