boy I sure made a big mistake supporting Obama during the election

Found this gem, thought I'd share it -

I work for a small business in Florida. Seems like lately the bad economy is becoming ever and ever more apparent.

The store is firing yet another person soon.

I feel like that person will lose their job so that some rich person can keep his Yacht. I can't believe it's more than halfway through 2010 and Obama has not only done nothing to quell these losses, but he has made it worse!

You are talking to an Obama supporter. I even supported him over Hillary! Now I think that both John McCain and Hillary Clinton could have done a better job to this point!

Obama seemed to understand the economy, he seemed to be willing to do the right thing if he was only given the opportunity. Now at this point, he has been given the opportunity so many times to correct the wrongs, and all he does is continue to talk!

To fix the economy we have to fix the Country. The bad economy isn't the cause it is a symptom of our broken country. To fix the economy we'd have to fix several things.

    Illegal Immigration
I am not all that sure why Illegal Immigration is so hard of an issue. Why can't we make one bill that secures the border, deports current illegals, and makes it very easy to get into this country the right way!? All employers must be held to the law. If we just did all three of these things at the same time, we would gain enforcement, and more Tax paying citizens, while still allowing Mexicans to come over here to make more money.

    NAFTA
Nobody else follows NAFTA, and it's time we don't either! Time to set our own tariffs to even the playing field in manufacturing, communications, agriculture, and everything else!

    The Wars
The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are beyond obviously the most costly things to our country. Americans tend to thing that war is good for the economy because of WW2, but this is not WW2. In WW2, we sold arms and other goods to the other people involved in the war. This is what helped to stimulate our economy and bring us out of the Great Depression even before we entered into the war. In this we are more like England in the Revolutionary war. For those of you who don't know we won the Revolutionary War because Mother England started running her bank dry.
Seeing as that we are spending more money in these wars than we are making, it makes economic sense to get them finished with as soon as possible. Logically speaking, the economy should gain a significant boost some time after we have stop spending money in Iraq and Afghanistan.

    Government
In a time of economic downturn it makes sense for the Government to eliminate unnecessary roles. I think that a perfect example of an unnecessary role is the Czars that were started by Bush and continued by Obama, when they should have been fired.

    Law Enforcement
In depression economics things like "The Drug War" have to be dropped. Why? Because the crime rates soar, robberies of desperation become an everyday thing. There is not enough resources to fight against the crime that comes with a depression economy, and do things like regulate drugs at the same time. Furthermore any money that can be saved should, in order to lower taxes and keep citizens afloat. In exchange, taxes should be greatly raised on unnecessary things such as recreational drugs (like alcohol), luxury items, and anything else not needed to live.

    Cut Government Programs
Health care is something Obama is sure to play up as one of his biggest success stories, but the need for health care pails in comparison to the urgency of our falling economy. Any way you look at it, even if only in the short term, a health care plan is going to cost money. Right now our focus should be on ways to save money, not more ways to spend it.

    Raise Taxes on Commodities
Things that people by to make money, like gold, stocks, anything that can be traded, should be taxed much more heavily. The increase on these taxes could be used to lower taxes on more essential goods. Right now the government is taking too much money right out of people's paychecks, creating a disincentive to work. Plus higher taxes on goods that go overseas can make us more money.

    Fix Social Security
A 21 year old employee working full time making minimum wage can pay up to a thousand dollars a year out of his or her own paycheck, knowing full well that money is going to charity. Citizens today should be given the option to Opt out of Social Security, surrendering all the money they have given and their future benefits, but no longer having to pay into the system from that day forward.

    Raise the Retirement Age
This one is obviously not popular, but it must be done sooner or later, given that the economy is in a downfall there is no question that now would be a good time. I'm tired of hearing the older among us complain about this. Yes it sucks, but at least you will GET to retire! At least you will get Social Security. These privileges are already being swiped from your children, even though they have done nothing, even indirectly, to destroy it.

    Hold companies to the law
BP is probably one of the best examples of a company who can legally break the law. If I personally went out into the Gulf of Mexico to drill for oil, and I wasn't doing it the right way, I would be arrested.
Just because BP is a Company, it is allowed to go out there following no rules whatsoever (not even it's own). As a result they have caused a giant ecological and economical disaster for the surrounding areas (Not to mention killing 11 people). While it is technically not legal to dump your oil on public land, BP willingly did so anyway, by not knowingly not following the rules. Yet, they are all free to walk, free to go, and only encouraged to actually pay for the damages they've done.

    Eliminate Pork Barrel Spending
I personally thing calling it "Pork Barrel" is a bit stupid. The truth is that the way the Senate and House operate has been increasingly more dis functional. Since the law has been morphed to say that anybody can add anything to a bill (whether related or unrelated) and tie the two votes together. Under this a bill against abortion could also say that Elephants are not allowed in California. Representatives often take advantage of this to force us into giving money to causes we don't believe in, in order to get necessary legislation passed.

    Stop Backing up Loans
It has been said that this economic downturn started with the banks. Whether you blame the Lender or the person, the Government backing up these loans in any way, shape or form doesn't do any good for anybody. The loan market is one that requires foresight and responsibility. Getting behind someone to "catch them when they fall" is only going to cause them to be more likely to fall. Too big to fail has to become a thing of the past. It must be known that bail outs in all markets are a thing of the past, for our economy can't afford to bail out another industry.

Stop Spending Money We Don't Have
Obama's theory on how to fix the economy seems to be the same as getting water to flow from one point to another through a tube. He figures if we just spend a large amount of money then the flow will start and continue flowing. The problem is that this theory only works under real money. If you spend real money then that does get the economy working when it's not, but if you simply borrow money from someone else, then spend it, it does not work because you only took money from someone and gave it to someone else. You traded one person not having money for another person not having money.

I'm looking at the blogger's photo. Was he really old enough to vote in 2008?

Also, I note that in his 2008 blog entries, he makes no mention whatsoever of supporting Hillary Clinton or Obama.

Yet what he says here........is not Obama's fault and no other President has taken on the challenge to prevent corporations from becoming to big for their britches. Again this is the fault of Congress and the Aristocracy that controls it.........Obama's message was to quit sending back the same failed people back to Washington. For all to get involved and take back their government.

This is what our Nation is seeing............no matter who is spinning what. People are engaged and parties have sprung up all over the Country. Not only does President Obama have to take on the splintered and fractioned GOP.......but he has to take on his own............in which one can see where the Democratic Divide still is...........The Clinton Drones that have been placed in politics and the World of Media and Obama and his administration. Name one President that was ever in Office and a former President out in the public and getting more attention than the current sitting President.

Ask yourself this...........why does the World of Media implement a drive towards all things Clinton? Why in getting any bill that has been passed that the Dems who were holding up these bills are all Clinton Drones? All tied to BillBO and Hillary, yet the Media only focuses on the Gop and their divide.

One only need look to the funeral of Robert Byrd.................how long did Clinton Speak? How long did President Obama speak for? Instead of blaming President Obama.......why not put the blame where it belongs, on those who have been here longer than the last 3 to 4 Presidents.

haha this is really funny, it reminds me of what ed helms said he do as president in the book "america: the book". this really sums it up:

Why can't we make one bill that secures the border, deports current illegals, and makes it very easy to get into this country the right way!?

haha, oh thats it? just "make a bill" that magically does all that?? brilliant!! why didn't i think of that?!?

Well there's part of the problem too, this country has gotten so ridiculous that we can't just "make a bill" to cover these issues. Bills have to be laden with money, give a bridge to that person, build a library for this person, fund body armor for these people, and wrap it all in bullshit language no one can understand.

You don't think with an hours worth of thought and nothing to reference other than the Consitution you could come up with a policy to deal with immigration?

policy is great. its the implimentation of that policy thats the hard part. and i wasn't referring to the things attached to bills, again i'm referring to the logistics of the actual immigration problem. its like saying "why can't we just win the war?? we just have to shoot more people!"

thats a very SIMPLE way of looking at things. completely unrealistic though.

It's not that same thing, you're stating a goal, while this kid stated objectives.

Goal= stop or greatly reduce illegal immigration

Objective= create streamlined path to citizenship

huh? there were more objectives than that. my only argument is "easier said than done."
