Thread: Is Fox News A REAL news organization?

I believe that Fox News has no more credibility as an independent news organization than did Pravda (of the Soviet Union) during the "Cold War".
My opinion is that Fox News is merely the media arm of the RNC &, as such came as close to a state run propaganda machine during the Bush Presidency as anything has in U.S. history.

For those who will counter with a claim that MSNBC is the same on the left, I would merely counter with the assertion that even MSNBC will occasionally disagree with the Obama administration on numerous important issues: stopping the wars, protecting the torture "Deciders" of the last administraion, etc.

Fox News is pretty much a straight "Party Line" mouthpiece for the Republican Party, posing as a legitimate news organization & therefore represents a grave danger to this country. It's perfectly fine for media to have a political opinion/slant, but it's not OK to lie to the public & try to hide the fact that you are actually an arm of a political party.

All other news organizations have one simple "raison d'etre"........To make money!
(If they weren't selling advertising space/time, they would be selling shoes)

My fear is that Fox News has a more sinister motive than just simply greed....They are motivated First & Foremost by a political & religious agenda & only then by the good old profit motive, & that is dangerous.

Devil, we've been through this before. I went to the Fox News site, copied pages and pages of their stories to this message board, asked you and others to comment on the news worthiness of the pieces then collectively listened to the crickets waiting for your response.

Shall we do that again? Your position is so easily disproven, it's hardly worth a comment.

What shows are on Primetime for MSNBC..? No need to answer, Keith and Rachael, so your opinion of MSNBC NOT as an extension of this Admin is just silly. They are EXTREME Left to the point of Nanny-nanny boo-boo type reporting. They are laughing and poking fun at others More than any other type of reporting. They are actually closer to an extension of the Daily Show, they are so Slanted. And remember this is their Primetime coverage.

I will give you this, one of the worst pundits in the country does work for Fox and is considered a headliner for them which does damage their credibility some, and that's Sean Hannity..

But he doesn't do news. He's a commentator who reflects the opinion of the editorial board. You have to separate the news from the infotainment stuff to answer Devil's point.

This has been true of newspapers for centuries. The editorial page is opinion. The rest of the paper is news.

If Fox was not a legitimate news organization, you would not be able to find legitimate, unbiased news ANYWHERE.

That's the problem.....Fox News broadcasts nothing but their core editorial bias even when they claim to be presenting hard news stories. I believe they have more interest in pushing their neocon, right-wing, born-again Christian agenda than they do in making money.......and that is scary as Hell in a free society!

Anyone who gets the majority of their news from Fox, & feels they really are getting a "Fair & Balanced" accounting of the facts, is kidding themselves.
While that statement can generally be applied to any single news source, it is only with Fox News that the slant is so skewed that all other views are unwelcome & often ridiculed.
