    Pelosi vs. Cheney

This misdirection is curious. Regardless of if you believe Pelosi. And her account on security intel briefings. The fact remains that not only had they started waterboarding in Aug. A month before by their own account. Which means that they were doing this regardless of what Congress thought. Secondly they were waterboarding under Cheney's direct orders it appears to retrieve specific confessions meant to bolster the administrations case for war with Iraq. 2-3 hundred times they waterboarded to make a link between Iraq and Al quaeda. Pelosi is a side issue that has almost nothing to do with the breach of law by that administration. .

I agree. Pelosi is a diversion.

Its funny how the right is indignant that anyone would accuse the CIA of not being up front when you know that they didn't inform congress until after it had happened. How is that oversight?

Since when do the military and intelligence agencies wait for congressional approval in matters of tactics?

If it isn't clearly illegal, it's up to them to decide.

If they didn't think it was illegal why did they go to these extents to try to cover it up? Or to get opinions to excuse it? And why is it that the right isn't concerned that its being reported that none of this had to do with a second wave of attacks like Cheney was saying. It wasn't because they didn't no much about Al queada. Like Cheney said. Its was because they wanted a specific conffesion. Shouldn't that bother anyone. Right or left?

Yes the misdirection IS curious. We are being made to focus in on the past adminstration's policies and away from the current administration's policies. And how is this accomplished? By releasing the past administration's memos. Now these "tame" torture photos have mysteriously found there way to the media.

    Curious indeed.

It's not in the least bit curious. It's recognition of the past administration's criminal behavior. Justice must be served, don't you agree?

I think we are capab;e of looking at both administrations. Its not that confussing to most of us. You can be unhappy with Obama and still know that Cheney is a criminal. And walk and chew gum

Well obviously at the time of the now publicized events (2002) waterboarding was in a gray area. And since 2002, multiple acts of congress have made it much more likely to be illegal.

The left will not make the distinction (in terms of dates) because the public won't notice and the left can then beat the crap out of Bush/Cheney and Bush/Cheney know this. It's just politics.

The dates do matter in court however. Which is why you will never get a waterboarding conviction.

My point is Obama is the one creating the diversion for his terrible policies.
