Can someone please tell us how U. S. Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano got her job? She appears to be about as knowledgeable about border issues as a late-night radio call-in yahoo.



In an interview broadcast Monday on the CBC, Ms. Napolitano attempted to justify her call for stricter border security on the premise that "suspected or known terrorists" have entered the U. S. across the Canadian border, including the perpetrators of the 9/11 attack.
All the 9/11 terrorists, of course, entered the United States directly from overseas. The notion that some arrived via Canada is a myth that briefly popped up in the wake of the 9/11 attacks, and was then quickly debunked.
Informed of her error, Ms. Napolitano blustered: "I can't talk to that. I can talk about the future. And here's the future. The future is we have borders."
Just what does that mean, exactly?
Just a few weeks ago, Ms. Napolitano equated Canada's border to Mexico's, suggesting they deserved the same treatment. Mexico is engulfed in a drug war that left more than 5,000 dead last year, and which is spawning a spillover kidnapping epidemic in Arizona. So many Mexicans enter the United States illegally that a multi-billion-dollar barrier has been built from Texas to California to keep them out.
In Canada, on the other hand, the main problem is congestion resulting from cross-border trade. Not quite the same thing, is it?

The incompetence of this admiistration is starting to get noticed isn't it.

Um, she got the job specifically because she did a kick ass job dealing with border issues in Arizona while the previous president was dropping the ball on the same issues.

Commenting today on Napolitano’s statement, Sessions, a former federal prosecutor and a senior member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said:

“It is breathtaking that a cabinet secretary, bestowed by the public with the responsibility to protect our nation’s borders, could be ignorant of the undisputable fact that it is a violation of the criminal code to enter our country illegally. 8 U.S.C. 1325(a), which has been in effect for decades and codified in its current form since 1991, is unambiguous that doing so is a crime. This is one of the most baffling statements from a high government official I have ever heard.

“Not only is illegal entry clearly a crime, but Operation Streamline, a highly successful border prosecution operation, is now in effect in four areas along the U.S.-Mexico border, where individuals are now prosecuted and incarcerated for unlawful entry into the United States. Illegal entries are down in these areas, which only makes sense. Simply returning individuals across the border without prosecution indicates that this nation lacks seriousness of purpose when enforcing our laws. Border police have been pleased by the deterrent effect that occurs from simply prosecuting these crimes.

“It would be a stunning reversal of this successful policy if the Homeland Security secretary were to buy into the canard of open-border advocates by stopping the expansion of—or ceasing altogether—this successful program.

“Sec. Napolitano must swiftly, clearly, and unambiguously correct her comments on this matter to set the record straight.”

This is the gang that couldn't shot straight. She floundering here, Obama is struggling to deal with this outrageous mess he's made over the CIA, we're starting to be the laughing stock of the world......................they were warned.

she is really running in a race with pelosi to determine which one of them can win the title of being the most uninformed ignorant people god ever put on this planet..

right now I would say that janet is in the lead.. but Pelosi is going to catch up asap.. FIRE both of them NOW
